Q: Can solar panels power a whole house?
Yes, solar panels can power a whole house. With the right number of solar panels installed and optimal sunlight exposure, they can generate enough electricity to meet the energy needs of a typical household. However, it is important to consider factors such as the size of the house, energy consumption, and storage options to ensure a reliable and consistent power supply.
Q: Can solar panels be used in combination with wind turbines?
Yes, solar panels can be used in combination with wind turbines. This combination of renewable energy sources allows for a more reliable and consistent power generation, as wind and sunlight are complementary in nature. By integrating solar panels and wind turbines, the system can generate electricity during both day and night, as well as in varying weather conditions, maximizing energy output and increasing overall efficiency.
Q: Hello from SO TX.. I would like to know if anyone out there has SOLAR PANELS on their home?I have a 850 sq ft. house. I called Austin to a company that offers panels and installation. The cost $8,000.00, for 0 panels . The rep said we would save about 2 to 25% on our electric bill /mo. We use approximately 980 kw/mo. Our bill is around $40.00 / mo...I really don't think that's a good enough savings. We figure it would take 25 years to recoup our investment. And where we live in TX it does not offer any incentives. The gov. allows you a $2000.00 tx break.
I'm in the California Foothills and the island of Mindanao... I have both solar panels (electric and water heating) and a single wind-generator since 2000. We actually sell power to PGE in California and are self-sufficient in Mindanao. NOW, I'm confused with YOUR math... you say the Rep. suggests a monthly savings of $35 (25% of $40) which would be $420 / year. If materials / installation are $8,000 less $2000 tax-credit: it would take 35 years to pay off $6,000 at $420 / year. 980 Kwh/ mo is some pretty heavy usage... I'd suggest trying to reduce that. CFT's, lowering your AC setting, no lights if NOT in room, un-plugging stand-by appliances, and upgrading insulation. At our 2000 sq ft California RANCH we only burn 400 Kwh per month, and that includes an 800 sq ft barn (admittedly we heat with a wood-stove). We have 5, Sanyo 200 watt panels (3kw total) and generate an avg 900 kwh / month. SO, we're selling BACK almost 500 kwh mo. to the grid on the photo-cells alone. The kw wind generator averages another 20 kwh / month. I THINK the company YOU are working with is selling the EXCESS electrical-power back to the power-company behind your back !! GOOD LUCK
Q: my solar car works when using the Battery but when there is sunlight i connect the wires to the solar panel and it does not work...................HELP
leave the car in the sun for a few hours to see if it charges. if not, the panel is defective. get it replaced b4 the science fair
Q: Can solar panels be installed on churches or religious buildings?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on churches or religious buildings. In fact, many religious institutions have embraced solar energy as a way to reduce their carbon footprint and demonstrate environmental stewardship. Installing solar panels on these buildings can not only help generate clean and sustainable energy but also serve as a symbol of the organization's commitment to promoting renewable energy and responsible resource management.
Q: Let's say I can buy solar panels for my business for $5,000 and my payback period is 8 years. Would it be correct to assume that my money is best spent elsewhere (such as paying down debt) if I am being charged an interest rate of 3.9%?
Solar panels don't financially make sense. PERIOD...at least not yet. They have a short life and the efficiency dies over time. IF you have the money then go for it, but if you have debt then financially you're probably better off paying off that debt. They're more of a luxury item than an investment.
Q: Just wondering if it is possible to recycle solar panels and where that would be done. If it is possible, is there a money refund in return. Or would it be better to just take the metal off and get a refund in that way? Looking for basically any answer here.
It looks like you can. Although, I haven't been able to find like a drop off location or anything like that. Here's two phone numbers if you want to ask them. It's Sunday, and I'm assuming they're closed, otherwise I'd just call for you. San Diego (69) 562-783 or Berkeley (50) 843-3. It's a company called Borrego Solar. They look like a BIG solar company that specializes in commercial, residential and public sector turnkey, grid–connected solar electric systems. With over 25 years of experience. They sound like they would know about recycling, and at least be able to give you more information. I think because it's such a specialized item that is being recycled, there aren't going to be many options/drop off locations. Which ever option you choose (disassemble, or recycle as a whole) might depend on if you're looking to save the environment or make a buck. I got some information from the first link below, and the second link is to that Borrego company.
Q: Hi, I bought 50 6X6 inch solar cells, I also bought a 40 amp diode, I still need to buy a battery, and inverter and a voltage controller, could you tell answer me the following questions:) I would like t build a small panel at first, (may be 0 X 0 inch), with that I would like (or at least to try) to power my laptop for the hole day, so I wont receive a very high amperage, yet, all the inverters I saw at e-bay are rated over 400 amp, if I buy a 400 amp inverter, can I use it with such a small amperage?2) what about buying a small car inverter, will it work?3) suggestion about the battery and the voltage controller will be kindly appreciated. Thanks
I'm guessing that each of those solar cells is just 0.5 volt at max power, so if you make a 2-inch square panel, you will get 2 volts - not enough for the inverter. A car inverter is notoriously inefficient, but it would work if you connect it to a 2-volt battery. You cannot generally connect such an inverter to solar panels alone. The battery supplies the peak current that the inverter needs, and the panel charges the battery. To charge a 2-volt battery, you will want 36 cells, generally, which give you an 8-volt panel. You can buy an inexpensive charge controller somewhere. If your laptop will run off 2 volts directly, you can skip the inverter and be much more efficient. Or if the laptop runs of (say) 9 volts, you can use about 40 cells to get 20 volts, get the proper power plug from Radio Shack, and plug the panel directly into the laptop.
Q: I am writing some mock legislation for a school club and I need to know some of the environmental effects of solar panels. Also, where can I find specific studies(like from colleges and/or universities) proving these benefits as well as benefits and reasons of going green.
Hi there, as a great starting point take a look here okorder Should give you most of what you require
Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of noise from transportation?
Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of noise from transportation. Noise pollution does not affect the functionality or performance of solar panels. However, it is important to ensure proper installation and maintenance to maximize their efficiency and effectiveness in generating solar energy.
