Hot Rolled SteelA rolling process at temperatures over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit is use to create hot
rolled steel. Steel products in Massachusetts that have been processed in this manner will have a
blue-gray finish that feels rough to the touch.
Hot rolled steel actually reconfigures itself during the cooling process, giving the finished product
looser tolerances than the original material and when compared to cold rolled steel products. Hot
rolled steel is more malleable, allowing it to be forced into a variety of different shapes
Uses: Hot rolled products like hot rolled steel bars are used in the welding and construction trades
to make railroad tracks and I-beams, for example. Hot rolled steel is used in situations where
precise shapes and tolerances are not required.

FAQ:
1. How to guarantee the quality of the products?
We have established the international advanced quality management system, every link from raw
material to final product we have strict quality test;We resolutely put an end to unqualified products
flowing into the market. At the same time, we will provide necessary follow-up service assurance.
2. How long can we receive the product after purchase?
Usually within thirty working days after receiving buyer’s advance payment or LC. We will arrange the factory manufacturing as soon as possible. The cargo readiness usually takes 15-25 days, but the shipment will depend on the vessel situation.
- Q: How are steel coils used in the production of aerospace parts?
- Steel coils are used in the production of aerospace parts as they provide a reliable and durable material for manufacturing various components such as engine parts, structural beams, and landing gear. The coils are first processed and shaped into specific forms and sizes, then undergo further fabrication processes like cutting, welding, and machining to create the desired aerospace parts. The high strength and corrosion resistance of steel make it an ideal choice for ensuring the safety and performance of aerospace components.
- Q: what do you think about it? Is it a good steel for the money? the knife that i have with that steel is the kershaw chill. good knife for the price
- 8Cr13MoV is a decent blade steel...not a great steel, but about as good as you will generally find without paying much higher prices. It's used by a number of well known knife makers... It's basically equivalent to AUS-8 and will work and hold an edge reasonably well for most basic cutting chores. *************************************** From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: 8Cr13MoV, a Chinese stainless steel tempered at the Rc56 to Rc58 range and used in the Tenacious, Persistence, Ambitious, Resilience, Grasshopper, Kiwi3 and Byrd lines of knives. Often compared to AUS-8, but with slightly more Carbon.
- Q: What are the challenges in coil slitting for narrow strip widths?
- Coil slitting for narrow strip widths presents a number of challenges. One key challenge is the need to maintain precision and accuracy throughout the slitting process. Even the smallest misalignment or deviation can result in significant defects or inconsistencies in the final product. Therefore, it is important to calibrate and adjust the slitting equipment carefully to ensure accurate cuts. Another challenge is the risk of material damage or deformation during slitting. Narrow strip widths are more susceptible to distortion, wrinkling, or edge cracking, especially if the material is not handled or supported properly. To minimize potential damage, it is necessary to feed the material smoothly through the slitting machine and control the tension effectively. In addition, handling and transporting slit coils can be challenging due to their narrow width. These coils are prone to bending, twisting, or telescoping, which can cause difficulties in stacking, storage, or transportation. To maintain the shape and integrity of the coils, proper packaging and handling techniques must be employed throughout the supply chain. Furthermore, narrow strip widths often require more frequent blade changes during slitting. This adds complexity and time to the setup and maintenance process, as the blades need to be carefully selected and replaced for optimal cutting results. Skilled technicians are crucial for efficiently and effectively handling these blade changes. Overall, while coil slitting for narrow strip widths offers cost savings and increased material utilization, it also comes with challenges that need to be addressed. These challenges include maintaining accuracy, preventing material damage, ensuring proper handling and transportation, and managing blade changes effectively. By understanding and addressing these challenges, manufacturers can optimize their coil slitting operations and produce high-quality narrow strip products.
- Q: Im in the process of replacing the gutters/down spouts on my house. The top of the house is four sided. The bottom level has a porch area with 3 sides, two smaller roofs in the back, and one small roof on the side with all stainless steel gutters. A two story house. Not sure of the demensions. They were made at a Steel Mill where the previous owner, worked. This guy wants to buy the stainless gutters but I need to know the market value of this steel and offer him a price. Can someone tell me what I can sell it for? Does it go by the pound? Foot? Can you give me an idea please? Theres a lot of it! I have no clue what to do! Thanks!
- Depends on the company but you'd probably get a decent amount of money. Try searching different sites.
- Q: days. Use your knowledge of the corrosion of steel and aluminum to predict how they would look different after a week exposed to rainy weather. Explain your prediction.
- Steel rusts, aluminum doesn't so the steel can would be rusty and the aluminum can would not.
- Q: How are steel coils used in the production of industrial valves?
- Steel coils are used in the production of industrial valves as they are shaped and cut into specific sizes to create the valve bodies and other components. The coils are then processed through various manufacturing techniques such as welding, machining, and forging to form the valve structure. This allows for the production of durable and reliable industrial valves that can withstand high pressure and temperature conditions in various industries.
- Q: Not sure if stainless steel is actually sealable but what's the best way to clean a brushed stainless steel appliance to not get so many finger prints...etc. I have stainless steel wipes that I used on another appliance and they don't work so great.
- Straight white vinegar on a clean white cloth does an amazing job on all my appliances. Makes the kitchen smell great to.
- Q: Can steel coils be coated with anti-counterfeit materials?
- Yes, steel coils can be coated with anti-counterfeit materials.
- Q: Are steel coils used in shipbuilding?
- Yes, steel coils are commonly used in shipbuilding. They are used primarily for the construction of the ship's hull and other structural components due to their strength, durability, and ability to withstand harsh marine environments.
- Q: In terms of weight to strength titanium is stronger. But is it stronger than mild steel? If it is stronger, how much stronger is it?
- Contrary to what we are usually told, Ti weight to strength ratio is better only for lower strength alloys. Steels match or best Ti and Al alloy ratio's for high strengths. Hard to answer this question, due to varying effects of cold work, alloying, and heat treatments. In general, traditional mild steels with little cold work are about equivalent strength to commercially pure Ti. Cleverly selected mild steels with extensive cold work have greater UTS (and really greater SMYS) than commercially pure Ti, and approach strength of the best Ti alloys. Ti starts at about 60ksi UTS for commercially pure, and goes up to about 200ksi for high strength alloys. Mild steel has varying definitions. Plain carbon steels use virtually no alloying materials other than carbon. Low carbon steels starting in the 1008 (0.08% carbon) range can be cold worked to 100ksi UTS, while 1030, the maximum carbon for mild steel per one source, can be cold worked up to about 180ksi. Simple steels can go about 215 ksi UTS at fairly reasonable cost with lesser cold work than I was using because producers can't make stronger steels with higher degrees of cold work. High strength alloys can best 350ksi at impressively high cost. (and they match best titanium alloy strength to weight ratio). They are why wide body aircraft have lots of steel - landing gears, flap mechanisms, etc. Don't know about cold working Ti though. It doesn't seem to be done much, but difficult to find info.
