- If the floor is uneven it will be unsteady and most bunks beds tend to be top heavy and can fall over. It might be a good idea to bolt it though the wood frame of the bed on the top into a stud in the wall solving the problem.

- We switched our daughter over at 16 mos. when she started trying to climb out of her crib. We skipped the toddler bed and put her in a twin size bed. We didn't use any rails. Her mattress actually sits on the floor between the bedrails so if she did fall out, she didn't fall far. She's only fallen out 2 or 3 times. She does really well with it and now refuses to go into a crib or a pack n play. We skipped the bed rails because they are going to have to learn to sleep without them eventually. You always run the risk of them falling out after you removed the bedrails. My husband and I didn't have bedrails, nor did our parents. Personal choice I suppose. Hope this helps. Good luck.
