- Q: First off please do not respond with redneck, trailer trash, or similar comments about my home, it's a very nice house and I'm very proud of itOk now the question! Our house has the vinyl underpinning (saving up for a nicer foundation, but that will come in time), it's 28ft w and 60ft long, and it sits pretty much on a hillThis causes a lot of cross winds to come through the vinyl, what would be the best way to insulate the area under the house to prevent air leaks? Would it be better to do the spray in insulation, going underneath and literally spraying the whole place down or going the packaged route and stuffing the place full of fiberglass insulation? Spray insulation I worry would be blown out by the wind (I seriously know VERY little about this, so I'm sorry if that comes off like the dumbest sentence you've ever read.) If I choose to physically lay out the packaged insulation under the home would I need to secure it with any special tools or specialized hangers?
- I suggest noting the difference between skirting, the panels that keep stuff, and a lot of air, from just blowing under the 'home, vsthe actual insulation underneath the floorNot worth the trouble to try to get air-tight skirting (and could actually cause mold problems due to a lack of ventilation), but definitely good to max under the floorTreat it just like insulating a crawl space under a regular house, thick and then sheeted over with plastic, for a vapor barrierAs long as you're down there, also get to know where your water supply line and drain line is, etc., especially if you've had any trouble in this cold winter.
- Q: I want to know if adding a radiant barrier is worth the moneyI've done some research and the answers are all over the board.
- I've never tried this with steak, but when I make cakes, I put a pan full of water on the shelf below the cake and it makes the air humid in the oven, making the cake more moistYou could also marinate the steak before cooking and/or add it while cooking.
- Q: Rats- is Fleece blankets, and shreded paper(newspaper) or (notebook paper) safe to use on rat beddings, ?
- Fleece should be fine, but you always want to avoid newsprint if you canYou should even avoid dyed cardboard as a chew toy! Inks and dyes can have any number of toxins in them that are harmful to small pets A good option though is toilet paper, plain white unscented toilet paper, and why not? Its made to absorb urine isn't it? And small animals will often use it as nest building material as well as beddingAs for fleece, the only thing I would do is watch that fibers don't get caught around limbs or tailsI know it's one of the things not suggested for gerbils (my pet of choice) because they shuck their tails if they get caught, and fleece fibers are strong enough that if tails did somehow manage to get caught, the tail would die and fall offRats don't do that, to my knowledge, but it would still be painful and annoying for you and your rat, so it would be safer to go with some other form of bedding like Carefree or the equally good walmart brand (can't remember the name of it off the top of my head)Also, I second Taste of Rain's note not to use pine like others have suggested, its has oils that are toxic to rodents as well and are best avoided.

- Q: Anyone have an easy pattern for crochet rectangle? I did a search in Google but only found one.?
- Searching for crochet rectangle patterns is too broad; you will need to narrow your search by naming the item you'd like to create using terms such as: afghan, blanket, scarf, wrap, shawl, adult, child, baby, pet, and so onThe yarn manufacturers such as Lion Brand, Bernat, and Patons usually have a great selection of free patterns to choose fromThere are lots of great books on the market too, and your local library may have some available for loanIf you cannot locate a pattern that appeals to you, you can create your own crocheted rectangleWith your chosen hook fiber, create your starting chain to the desired length OR width, add in your turning chains, and then crochet your desired stitch pattern be it anything from simple single crochet stitches to something more complicated, say pineapplesThe Crochet Stitch Bible is a great reference book for many wonderful crochet stitch patternsI hope this helps~Dee Stanziano Certified Crochet Teacher
- Q: Hey, just out of curiosity I wanted to see how blanketing peoples' schedules differ and figured this would be a good place to ask some peopleWhat is your blanketing schedule for your horse? Please state whether or not you clip your horse in the winter, and if you do, how that affect when you blanket and when you don't?Thanks!

- Q: can i use ribbon in place of ribbon yarn?thanks!
- I live in Dallas, we are on day 19 of 100+ degree weatherI've Been told, unless you have a larger than needed home ac unit, it won't cool more than 20 degrees difference from outside So on today, at it's peak, we were at 80 in the houseNot fun, but not buying a larger ac unit for the house! I'm sure if we replaced doors and windows and put more insulation in the attic it would helpWe plan on more insulation once the temp drops a bit so my husband doesn't over heat up there instantly.
- Q: .lights? The lights are definitely insulation-safe, but I would imagine that's more for pink fiberglass batt insulationWe have several in our attic with no insulation anywhere near them, so warm air leaks into the atticI would like to hand-place some quot;blow-inquot; cellulose insulation around the area to better insulate itThe only reason for cellulose versus pink fiberglass is because Home Depot doesn't sell the blow-in pink stuffAgain, this will not actually be quot;blown inquot; but placed around the lights by hand.
- Call the vetWhile chocolate isn't as harmful as some make it out to be, it can still do damage when your dog gets too muchWe don't know the size of the bag, so we cannot judge on the aluminum foil, but even if she is passing some, that doesn't mean that all of it will pass natuallyYou should call your vet and get his/her opinion.
