Q: Why the new tiles are double? What material, so good?
Process: Ingredients - Ingredients - Ball Pulping - Spray Powder Making - Pressing - Drying - Printing (Chemicals - Ingredients - Ingredients - Ball Mills - Burning → Polishing, Edging → Grading → Waxing → Packaging → Library
Q: How many types of tiles are there?
Generally divided into the following: 1, glazed tiles. 2, quintana bricks. 3, polished tiles. 4, tiles. 5, mosaic. 6, antique brick. 1) glazed tiles: clay or porcelain clay covered with glaze and then made of brick; this brick is divided into two categories: one is made of clay, due to high water absorption and must burn glaze. Because the strength of this brick is low, and now rarely used; the other is fired with porcelain clay, in order to pursue the decorative effect of burning glaze, this tile structure is dense, high strength, low water absorption, anti-fouling Strong, the price is slightly higher than the ceramic firing tiles.Common specifications: square glazed tiles have 152 × 152mm, 200 × 200mm, rectangular glazed tiles with 152 × 200mm, 200 × 300mm, commonly used glazed tiles thickness of 5mm and 6mm.
Q: Im putting that peel-n-stick tile stuff in my new apartment over the stuff thats there (i dont know what its called but its like plastic kinda) is there any thing i have to do other then sweep before i put the new one down?
you can get an adhesive that will clean the floor and also help the stick tiles adhere better..they sell it at lowes..we did this when we put peel and stick tiles down...and it did work..but we removed the floor the lino..which it sounds like thats what you have too...go to your local home improvment store and ask them...
Q: for making cement decorative hand made cement tile there is device sometime call cookie cutter also to portrait some design is called divider
The metal frame that divides the tile into different sections is made from strips of metal carefully bent and soldered into place. I have seen steel ones and also brass mold patterns. The key to it is to have the bottom of the strips perfectly flat and level so that when you pour in the liquid cement mix, each color stays in its own compartment. See the link below to see a mold pattern and also the finished tile from it. A lot of history and more photos are on the second link.
Q: I am looking at replacing my kitchen floor, which currently has carpeting. (Bought the house like that.) And now I am looking to do either vinyl or tile. I understand tile is good for a lifetime, where as vinyl is good for 15-20 years for the heavier kind, but tile is double the cost. We plan on staying in our house a long time, if not forever, but in the case we would decide to sell, would tile or vinyl give us more value?
I can only answer this according to resale in my area where I live. Tile will up the value of your home here. But...here, we have cold winters, and if you have tile, it had better be heated or the tile will be worthless as they get very cold underfoot. Personally, I like vinyl for the fact that it is warmer underfoot, and it can come in tons of colours/designs/thicknesses. It can be expensive too, so you will have to shop around. Vinyl will mark, but so will tile. Tile will last longer, but be sure it is installed properly. Tile is tougher overall, but you might want to change it after 15 years and it will be cheaper to change vinyl than it will be to change tile. If you choose vinyl, just do not choose the cheapest as it will have more of a tendancy to yellow and tear. Ensure your heavy appliances are on wheels so the vinyl will not tear when you move them for cleaning (done that one before).
Q: I have a commercial pool thats about 100 years old ( with modern modifications). The ceramic tiles on the floor area are original. We have been begged by just about everyone not to replace them. It looks soo dirty. Our comepetition is more expensive.....water quality is horrible....and their pools are packed all day. Im lucky to get 5 people in an 18 hour day. The water and inside the pool look nice.....just getting to the pool...people think they will get a disease. Its just old age stain....not sure what that is exactly.
you could try an acid base cleaner on the tile . These type of stains may be just old age though and i know every one says don't replace old things but if these tiles are past there prime? i am sure you can get a modern tile that has the same look
Q: I want to lay tile in my living room and I am on a fixed income. I have never done anything like this and so I do not know how hard it will be for me to do.
as far as DIY its a great first time in MHO .First get a book on tile laying from Lws or HD its an easy project and more forgiving then most but prep is very important .A great DIY and goes quickly with those big tiles.Good Luck
Q: I have just had a room tiled with porcelain tiles. They are non-shiny matte tiles and it was suggested to me that i should use a sealer. What sealer would be better to use, a water based or solvent based? What are the differences between using the two?
Penetrating sealer.. Although a water based product, a couple of coats will last years. Mist on( w/ a spray bottle) wipe it thoroughly over the tile and grout with a damp cloth. I dampen a cloth with the sealer. Let set for 10/15 minutes and wipe excess off amd dry. Don t let it puddle and dry. Repeat at least once , twice if possible. The grout must be set for a minimum of 3 days with all the excess grout has all cleaned off. I ve have only used 2 brands over the years Cerama Seal and Miricle 511. I m sure theres others out there but I stick to what works.. Any questions you can e mail through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q: Have you used the marble tiles, the quality, the price?
In the choice of floor tiles, the focus should be considered such a few aspects: First, look at the brand. Only the well-known brands of floor tiles, the quality of its building materials to meet the national standards, the content of harmful substances in the safe range. Second, to see its anti-fouling ability, if the family are very busy, two or three days to clean a health, it would choose to better defrost capacity. Third, if the home has the elderly and children, then the purchase must be made about non-slip test.
Q: I bought tile effect laminate flooring for my kitchen. How do I stagger the joints, but line the grout seems up at the same time? There are four equal tiles per a plank.
The tiles should be the same size or in a pattern such that you can off set the joints and still have the tilegrout lines still line up. Or some of them you can both off set the joints and do a offset or brick pattern in the laminate itself. This type of laminate you ll need more than normal scrap because you will scrap more out on this type of laminate. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar, I ve attended several installation seminars as well as installed a few 100,000 s/f.. GL
