- Q: Real tile or those that u just glue on?? why?

- Q: i have the material that is needed to tile my home but cannot pay for it to be done so i need information on how to do this
- If you need to prep such as lay cement board or do you have slab to go directly over? Proper prep work is the most important thing. To lay tile , center the room, lay tile out dry. When you get to the wall, if you have a 1/2 tile or bigger, your all set. If you end up with less than 1/2 tile, recenter the middle tile to shift every thing over by a 1/2 tile. Then strike a line. Mix thin set, let it set and mix again. You ll want it to be spreadable but not to thick. The use of the proper size trowel for what ever size tile. Don t spread any more thin set than you can set tile in just a few minutes. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. - Q: Dont want to lay down the rock. Want to attach strait to the plywood due to dish washer stove and cabinets. What is the best way for long lasting tile strait to plywood?
- Short cuts usually create more situations that take longer to rectify than actually doing the job properly. You will need to remove the toe kick from under the cabinets and adjust the height, you must make sure the tiles go at least 3/4 under the toe kick. With regards to the dishwasher, they usually have adjustable legs, I would look into that before you begin this project, you really should tile under the dishwasher. If you ever plan on selling, the tiles installed the way you plan to install them will surely reduce the value.

- it isn't really as easy as you'd think. 1. create a background 2.make sure to check the box labeled Use as tile set 3.open up the room you want the tiles to appear in 4.there should be some tabs below the upper left corner 5.click on Tiles 6.under the big gray blank space(wich is just below the tabs) there should be a place to select the tile you want to use 7.after selecting the tile the gray empty space should show the tile. 8.click in the room on the spot you want the tile. remember, tiles are basicly drawings. so objects sometimes go over or under them. experiment with the layers to solve this :)

- It depends entirely upon the type and quality of tile (glazed porcelain will typically be less expensive than stone or travertine), or if you are installing real hard wood, or laminate, where you buy the tile/laminate/hardwood (an outlet, home depot, costco) and if you are doing it yourself, or hiring it done, which will of course automatically make it more expensive if you hire it done. Once you decide the look and feel you want for your room or house that may help you to decide further. I hope this helps!

- Using TSP (trisodiumphosphate), thoroughly clean the tile surface. The TSP will clean and degrease the tiles. At Home Depot there is paint that you can buy that is designed specifically for painting over ceramic tile. I've used it and it does work, but make sure you open some windows and have some cross ventilation going as it smells very strong and the fumes can cause problems. It is supposed to be self leveling, but being as you are working on a vertical surface, it's best to use thin coats of the paint. If you use any other type of paint, it will come off when you go to clean it.
- Q: Used 600x300 glazed tile for the whole outdoor building. 30% tile gum and cement mixed for the work. 6 months later, the Tiles begun to fall off the wall leaving the cement still strongly bonded on the wall. I mean, the tiles ONLY fall donw, not with the cement. Note: We usually soak SOME ceramic tile with water before pasting them, IF the type call for that. But the type is apparently out of the case of water solution.Granite is even heavier than that and yet lasts virtually with building.

- Q: I am tiling my bathroom and in the process of re-tiling the shower stall. I removed the old plastic liner there and now some of the glue remains on the greenboard. Also, some of the green part of the board is ripped of from when the glue came off with the old liner. Some of the paper is flakey in spots. I pulled off some of the loose pieces, but there is more. Now, I‘m an amateur. I was told to use some grout sealer to go over the greenboard. However, since there are flakey pieces of paper from the greenboard on there still, should I simply remove as much as I can before sealing and tiling? Will the seal glue these flakey pieces down and make them secure for tiling? What is your advice? Many thanks!
- you really should just replace the green board with wonder board.Grout sealer does nothing on drywall,whoever told you to do that is full of ****.grout sealer is for grout joints.Sealing is done AFTER tile is installed and grouted.If you leave the green board,just scrape the old glue off with a putty knife,and any loose paper,gently remove it.If there are gaps or gouges in the drywall,fill them in with joint compound ,let it dry and sand off any high spots. Installing cement board over existing drywall is not a good idea,it creates a space between the two for moisture and mold.And it creates a higher edge at the shower sides where tile edging is needed,and it will not work properly.
