Product Pictures Of Porcelain Tile
- Q: We're remodeling our bathroom and looking for tile. Thanks in advance!
- if i was you i would first go to a tile shop ...many shops ..and find the tiles you really like first ..take down their number and batch number ..they vary a lot in shade ..then see if you can get the same on the net ..in my experience ..you can do as well in the shop as on the net ..they are all so easier to deal with if something goes wrong
- Q: Hi, I was wondering what type of tile is easier to lay down on a bathroom floor, large, single tiles or small tiles that are connected together by mesh. I have never done anything like this before, so any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!
- Well, I'm a tile installer, I think the larger tiles are easier to lay. The small tiles that are connected by mesh are hard to get aligned perfectly. The smaller, single tiles (4-1/4 x 4-1/4), are easy to lay, but they're not rated for floors. So, that leaves the larger tiles (anything 8x8 or larger). These are set with a product called thinset mortar. It comes in a bag in a powder form. You mix it with water to a peanut butter consistency spread it on the floor with a notched trowel (usually a 1/4 x 1/4 square notch). You let that set for 12 to 24 hours, then come back and grout the grout joints.
- Q: I need two more floors tiles to match my kitchen floor. The floor was down before we moved in. how i can find out what type of tile it is?
- If you have any loose pcs not yet installed the backs can give me clues as to what it is. Along with the year it was originally installed ( approx) and the exact size of the tile.. Any thing over 8/10 years old you may as well look for some thing close in the exact size. Beyond that your looking at reclaimed tile discount outlets looking for dropped tile lines. There is a few places that specialize in buying and selling of dropped lines of tiles. They change and discontinue tiles every 7/10 years to keep up with changing styles and colors patterns. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
- Q: I want to replace the existing ugly linoleum/vinyl floor in my bathroom with tile. With the right information and tools, I don‘t see why I can‘t do it myself. Any ideas on the pros and cons of different types of tile? What‘s least likely to get scratched, and what is least likely crack and need to be replaced? Which is easiest to clean, etc.? I‘m not crazy about a rough feel or look to the tile. So, I‘m thinking of glazed ceramic or polished stone. Also, my bathroom is very small. I wouldn‘t need to use more than 35-40 square feet of tile. Do you think 12x12 size tiles would look too big? Any tips or suggestions will be appreciated!
- Ceramic tiles that have a somewhat porous texture and somewhat marbled appearance. Porcelain and marble, as well a smooth-glazed ceramic, is too slippery. Stone is too porous and subject to trapping dirt (plus I once had a slate bathroom floor that constantly smelled like wet rocks when it got wet or damp). You can also get ceramic tile that looks like stone for less money. Solid colors - particularly white - are a major faux pas with a tile floor. Every piece of dirt, debris, hair, etc., is highly visible. Some kind of slight marbling or travertine looking pattern hides these well. 12 x 12 is an excellent size for a bathroom floor tile. If you have a wood subfloor, make sure you install a layer of 1/2-inch wonderboard and a leveling compound (plasticized cement slurry), plus a slipsheet (plasticized paper layer) before putting down the thinset and tiles. This will ensure that the floor is extremely solid, and that the difference in thermal expansion between the underlayment and the tiles won't result in tile or grout cracking.
- Q: Just moved into a house with tile floors, I have fiber mopped, stick-vac‘d, wet mopped them and they still feel gritty on my bare feet. Anyone have any suggestions or will they always feel dirty?
- cleansing hardwood flooring or tile will greater effective than probably be the comparable, cleansing smart. My very own determination is hardwood. They do would desire to be wiped sparkling alot and you will experience any speck of dirt on them. I even have tile flooring in my kitchen and this is the comparable way. Sorry i do no longer think this helps. compromise get the two, my residing house has hardwood flooring for the era of and then interior the kitchen and bathing room we've tile.
- Q: Currently the stairs are carpeted. I have heard that if this is not done properly the tiles will crack. How do I ensure that the stairs are level and stable enough for the tiles? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
- don't , they are way to slippery, accidents waiting to happen!
- Q: I am looking at putting the self stick vinyl tiles in my new addition. It has a concrete floor and I was wondering if the vinyl will have a hard time sticking to the concrete. Do I need some type of sub-floor? I am wondering this mainly because we live in iowa were is can get pretty cold in the winter and I didn‘t know if that would affect the stickyness.
- Self stick tiles commonly loosen from subfloors, concrete or wood. They can be installed successfully over concrete but it is absolutely vital that your concrete be smooth and very, very clean. If you are concerned about adhesion it would be wiser to use glue down vinyl tiles which aren't much more expensive, rather than build a very expensive wooden subfloor which wouldn't guarantee the integrity of peel and stick tiles.
- Q: My tile is ugly mint green. nothing matches.I would like to know if I can paint this without it looking tacky.
- I have seen tile painted before. You have to get a special type of paint to paint tile. Go to the website below and search for painting tile. I have seen something on here before about this.
- Q: i have vinyl tile in my dinning room(high traffic) its new but its not brillant ,and i saw a mantenance guy last night in wallmart using a buffer machine to pollish the tile..my question what kind of pad the used?they use any quimical with this pad?..how often this treatment its needed?
- You need to 1st find out what kind of tile you have. Some tile is made with a flat sheen. If your's isnt, wax and buff. You can rent machines pretty cheap and usually a few times a year will do it. Good Luck :)
- Q: I was told that a granite tile countertop is a cheap way to upgrade countertops. can I install granite tile over the existing laminate countertop? do I need any to install any material between the laminate countertop and the granite tiles? thanks
- No so fast my friend...... have you ever wonder how heavy a piece of 1`granite is? If it is big bench, you probaly need two persons to lift it on. If it is granite tiles, weight a piece totally up first try to put on some thing of similar weight on top the bench see what happens. Before you do anything, check your existing counter top's support. If it is using normal laminated chipboards by gluing of screwing together, I suggest that you check with the local hardware/DIY shop first. ie You may need additional supports. The last thing you need is the whole bench or table collapsing on your foot!?.......tata.
