- Q: Hey all, we are doing a debate in class and i am against food Additives. Can you help me out and name a couple of things why food additives are bad. plz help. thanks. ;]
- Many things are added to food, and unless you read the label, you may be unaware of what you are eating! Commonly used additives include preservatives that prevent or inhibit spoilage of food due to fungi, bacteria and other microorganisms, humectants that prevent foods from drying out, antioxidants (like vitamin C) which act as preservatives by inhibiting the effects of oxygen on food (and are beneficial to health), and emulsifiers that allow water and oils to remain mixed together in an emulsion, as in mayonnaise, ice cream, and homogenized milk. Additives are bad because they make our food more stable and fresher, so people do not get the benefits that derive from moldy or stale food.

- True. If corn were used as a additive, the cost of corn would increase (since its demand would increase). Assuming soybeans are a substitute for corn, demand for soybeans would increase (they are cheaper!), which would drive price up.
- Q: why are feed additives needed?

- The first example makes sense. You add the two and you get 0. Do you have the signs right in the second solution? 2a+9b -2a-9b Add them and you get 0 4xy^2+6x^2y-y^3 -4xy^2-6x^2y+y^3 It's a matter of changing the signs and adding. The additive inverse is what's added that will give 0, the identity for addition.
- Q: I have an 03 Ford Focus and after a friend ran a diagnostic, it turns out the fuel pump needs to be replaced. Ive always put low grade gas in my car but never bothered w/ fuel additives. As a result, sometimes the car will stall and lose power especially when in 3rd gear. Will using fuel additives help or is it too late for that?
- I would test the fuel pressure. One big thing I would do is replace the fuel filter, which should be done every 50,000-100,000 depending on the vehicle. They clog up and will hinder fuel flow. Another possibility is the fuel pressure regulator. I would replace the fuel filter, and then run a fuel pressure test though to see where it's at and if it's in specs. Hopefully that fixes it. If not, then test your fuel pressure regulator. If that's good, and your fuel pressure is still down, then yes, replace the pump. Fuel additives will probably not help at this stage, although Lucus injector cleaner is awesome for cleaning your fuel injectors.
- Q: I really dnt have money to fix it at 100% right now. I just got oil changw yesterday its a toyota supra 83 what can I do to stop leak for & bit? Do those additives work? It leaked before but now a lil more. Plz help
- As I am LOL I can still remember the time I used Stop Leak to get myself home when I was days away from where I lived. It did work and it was easier than constantly buying the oil as it was immediately leaking out. However, you do pay for it one way or another. If you now think with Stop Leak the jobs gets easier and cheaper, it doesn't. If I were you, I'd definitely go for the fix and work on borrowing money from a friend or relative or trying to make a deal with the mechanic. These days negotiation is more possible.
- Q: my 97 chev pu has 144000 miles on it and is using 1 to 2 qts per oil change. should i use a additive?
- Hi I think it is valve seals. On deceleration you cant see any smoke so get a friend to follow you down a hill to see what they see. If there is smoke you can get the seals replaced. If your plugs are fowling get the job done. If not don't worry about it. Take care!
- Q: Find the additive and multiplication inverse of -2/3?
- Inverses together make the identity for that operation. The identity for add is 0 so -2/3 and 2/3 are additive inverses because they add to be 0. The identity for multiply is 1 so -2/3 and -3/2 are multiplicative inverses because they multiply to be 1.
- Q: For example, -(7.8)? and why?
- it would be positive 7.8 because the dash in front of the absolute value sign means absolute opposite! I just finished studying this and had a test on it yesterday (100% correct) but if the positive # is on the inside and the dash is NOT in the equation then for example | 2 | 2 but it wont have the absolute value sign on the final answer. Absolute values are easy to learn about they only have a couple rules for them, but other than that you should be fine when they come your way in the future.

- Additives are used in Agriculture to change to context or chemical status of a product. Example in silage you add additives to reduce the PH levels to help preserve it for longer. or even adding urea to straw to make it more palatable
