MGS3 is longer, and it's the first game in the Metal Gear series chronologically. If you're just getting into Metal Gear, play MGS3. As a matter of fact, play MGS3, then play MGS, then play MGS2, and THEN play MGS4 or else you won't understand anything that's happening. Basically only pick up MGS4 when you are able to appreciate it. And for that matter, you probably won't get the most out of Revengence if you haven't played MGS4. So I guess what I'm saying is get MGS3 if you haven't played a Metal Gear title yet.
