Q: My kitchen faucet got broken, so i am trying to replace it with a new faucet. But here is my problem. I CANNOT uninstall the old faucet!!!! The main screw that holds the old faucet got rusty and the space around the screw is so little, I cannot uninstall it. It is so tight and it doesn't come out....I feel like if I continue trying, it may totally ruin the screw and it may never come out...Is there any advice for that? Pls help me!!!!: First, do the WD-40 thing. Spray the dickens out of it and leave it for an hour or so to allow the WD-40 to work through the rust. Second, go back to the hardware store and get a basin wrench. That is a special tool made for taking that pesky nut off in the tight spacing. They are not expensive and beat the heck out of bashing your knuckles trying to get another tool in there. Much less frustrating also! And while you're working under then, wear safety glasses if you don't wear glasses to protect your eyes from getting rust, rust with WD-40 in them. When you crack that nut loose, there will be all kinds of particulate material raining down. You don't need to get something in your eye and scratch your eye either!

Q: Hi all, I currently have a moen faucet set 3 piece set model 4570 in my bathroom.. I believe I have to replace the stem inside the handle but I can't remove it off the base of the sink. I can't loosen the locking nut underneath the sink either (even with trying to use basin wrench).. I saw the installation instructions online and from the diagram it shows I can acutally remove the hub from the top by holding the handle and twisting the hub if the opposite direction, but this thing won't bulge. what should I do?: There should be aplastic cover that can pry out of the middle of the handles. Then remove the screw and life is good. I'll bet the inside of the handle broke.

Some filters claim to remove all chemicals but keep flouride, what is that?: I would say that they are pretty effective in filtering out certain metals like lead and nickel that may be in your tap water. Filtered water certainly tastes different than unfiltered water. Boiling water sterlizes the water. it kills bacteria and makes it safe to drink from organic substances. But boiling water without filtering still keeps those metals and inorganic substances in your water. When you boil water from a stream for example, all your doing is making it safe to drink. Boiling tap water isn't necessary since it's already safe. Filtering will make it taste a bit better.
