Q: I remember 35 years ago, when all the uproar was made about aluminum or metal filings were found inside toothpaste tubes. %Health issues were raised about the residual filings in the base of toothpaste tubes for people who press the last nth of toothpaste from the tube.I'm researching about this concern in the plastic and other material-type tubes used nowadays. How SAFE / secure can we be (is there a watchdog org?) to Q.C. this safety-issue in the commercial brands of toothpaste nowadays?I use a tube-wringer on my toothpaste tubes so I get the last nth of toothpaste from each tube and I am curious how SAFE a practice this is.
There's no way to remove all toxins from anything manufactured. If however, you are simply brushing your teeth with the toothpaste and not actually consuming it, I think you'll be ok. Afterall, the metal, aluminum or plastic filings (if swallowed) would only pass through your digestive course. Should harm occur it would likely be in a circumstance where there was already an issue, i.e. ulcers, diverticuli, etc. On the other hand, if you WERE to ingest fluoridated toothpaste you could become gravely ill on consumption of fluoride alone. Long story short: I think you'll be ok.
Q: Plastic tubing is touching compressor (or close to it) and gets hot and brittle. I recoupled a bad spot 1 year ago and it is leaking again. I would like to replace the tubing from the back of the refrig (solenoid) to the water filter. Any ideas on what material to use? I would like to use copper line thru the bottom of the refrig if not all the way to the water filter, but don't know how to connect it to the solenoid. Also would pex (1/4 OD) line be a better (albeit more expensive) choice for this?
You can replace the line with copper. If the connection point is metal you'll want to use a brass compression nut (brass) with a (brass) compression sleeve (know as a ferrules) if the connection point is plastic you'll want to use a nylon compression fitting. The metal ferrules one wont work as you would need to crank the you know what out out it to make it seal, and run the risk of stripping the plastic threads. The nylon takes less torque to seal if that makes sense as its a more dense material. You should be able to get all the parts from a local hardware store or big box store such as lowes or homedepot.
Q: What are the toxic hazards in plastic pipe production plants? What are the specific hazards?
Plastics generally contain chemical components such as polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PV), polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene resin (PS).
Q: Considering it sort of a plumbing project... also, if possible, keep it as cost-effective as possible? Is there a particular fitting I need to use? And I want the tube to connect internally (tube is inside fitting) as opposed to externally. Thanks in advance!
If it's flexible tubing, there are nylon barbed fittings at nearly any hardware store that will fit your specifications. One end will fit inside the tube, secure with a tightened hose clamp after screwing the threaded end into the female fitting. If it's a pressurized application, wrap the threaded end with teflon tape before tightening. You may have to use a series of bushings to step up the threaded end if the sizes are too far off. Most home stores can fix you right up, must make sure you take all your diameters of the fittings and tube with you.
Q: Are plastic tubes suitable for hydrostatic testing?
Yes, plastic tubes are suitable for hydrostatic testing.
Q: I have a hole ins a plastic tube that contains water how do I seal the hole?
hmmmmmmmmmmm sounds like you a have a problem use ductape
Q: Reinforced concrete walls are eyes, and some have plastic tubes on their eyes, what's the matter?
A fixed formwork used for pouring concrete through formwork clips
Q: Can plastic tubes be used for chemical processing?
Yes, plastic tubes can be used for chemical processing. They are commonly used in a variety of industries such as pharmaceuticals, food processing, and water treatment. Plastic tubes offer advantages such as corrosion resistance, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness, making them suitable for handling a range of chemicals in various processing applications.
Q: What is the level of flexibility of plastic tubes?
Plastic tubes have a high level of flexibility, allowing them to be easily bent, twisted, or stretched without breaking.
Q: What are the advantages of using plastic tubes in the medical packaging industry?
There are several advantages of using plastic tubes in the medical packaging industry. Firstly, plastic tubes are lightweight, which makes them easier to handle and transport. Secondly, they are highly customizable and can be designed in various shapes and sizes to accommodate different medical products. Additionally, plastic tubes provide excellent barrier protection, ensuring the integrity and sterility of the packaged items. They are also transparent, allowing for easy visual inspection of the contents. Furthermore, plastic tubes are cost-effective compared to other packaging materials, making them a preferred choice for many medical manufacturers.
