You could try to have the system flushed but I doubt that would help.

If your car is giving you trouble because of bad gas or moisture build up in the tank (because it sat in humid or rainy weather with the gas cap off or something like that) then they can help. If you have trash in the tank, they can also help push that into the fuel filter where it is easier to change the filter and remove it. I don't think you should use them on a routine basis. They usually do improve gas mileage and performance a little (couple of MPG more), but only for a tank or 2 until it's all used up. After that the mileage/performance goes back to normal, and usually is not worth the cost of the additive just for that benefit.

Q: I have montero with 208k and it burns oil, I put in stp high mileage oil treatment and it did do a little good to the engine, but I am more convinced to use lucas oil stabilizer nxt time. Pls suggest some good additives that will work.: Lucas Oil Satbliizer is virtually the same thing as STP oil aditive just there is more of it, so it might appear to work better. No I am sorry to say there is no genie in a bottle fix for your engine, it either has bad valve seats/guide seals or the rings are worn allowing oil into the cylinders causing it to burn the oil. Its no surprise with 208k on it its burning some oil, it needs a rebuild or at least some major engine work to correct the issue. No matter what you try it WILL get worse.
