Q: as metal music: heavy metal, death metal, thrash metal, progressive metal, and so on.: There is no such rule. The most valuable metals - silver, gold and the white metals - are also the least reactive. More reactive metals do have a floor on their price though becasue the most reactive metals need more advanced techniques to extract them. For example, iron is relatively unreactive so can be extracted fairly cheaply in a blast furnace. Aluminium is more reactive, and needs to be extracted via electrolysis, which is a much more energy and cost intensive process. As a result aluminium costs far more than iron (or steel) even though it is a much more abundant element in the Earth's crust.

Q: Are metals crystalline? Explain.: Like g had said, when metal had emerged in it's earliest form in the early 70's, it would have been considered a sub genre of rock. I mean when I think of Black Sabbath, I thought of them more as a hard rock band even though they are considered to have had a heavy influence on the Metal genre. But they didn't 'invent' Metal. It's something that progressed of the rock genre the same way Jazz had progressed off of spirituals, ragtime, classical, and brass band or the way the birth of Rock was influenced by jazz and blues. With that being said, although Metal being influenced heavily by 70's hard rock, it really is a genre of it's own. Keep in mind that what sets apart rock and metal is their riffs. It's sort of like rap and hip-hop. They're separate genres but they have similar elements. It's all about how those elements are used. So I would say Metal really is a genre of it's own.
