- It's best to use natural fibers, such as wool, acryllic, mohair, cotton, linen, or hempMost people use cottonA polyester fleece will not hurt your guinea pig, but it may not like it that much, I am confused by what you call soft polyesterThere's plenty of soft materials, but people like fleece because it wicks away the urine, keeping the guinea pigs dryIf you aren't using fleece, then get a large regtangular Depends type pad (with flat edges - not the underpants style) and put that under the materialIt will keep the bottom of the cage dry and asborb the urine, which is then trapped inside the padMake sure the edges of the pad aren't sticking up between your material and the side of the cage because you don't want your guinea pig chewing the plasticA good cheap guinea pig bedding - if you can't find polar fleece - is a matress padJust cut it to whatever size you want and turn it with the fleecey side upI can get 4 big fleeces from 1 matress pad If the soft polyester you have found is batten or a quilt filler, do not use itYour guinea pig will chew on it and enough of that inside will kill him/herPolyester is a synthetic material and not digestableThis is why I recommend cotton, wool, or another natural fiber.
