- Q: i live in a house that was built in 1949there is some insulation in the attic that is stapled to the walls that looks like the kind you buy these days, but it is white instead of yellowit is very old and i believe it is the original insulation that was used when the house was builtis it possible that this is asbestos? thanx
- It is probably NOT asbestosYou say it looks like current fiberglass and it probably isOwens Corning trademarked the pink colorMost others are now yellow but fiberglass is naturally white and a great deal of it was back thenProbably has a paper backing tooAsbestos is really not a problem unless disturbedIt is also very possible that the insulation was added at a later timeIn 1949 they did not insulate as well as we do nowMy first house was built in 1952 and it also had white fiberglass insulationThe manufacturers name is probably printed on the backing so you could research itt that wayAsbestos insulation was mostly a fluffy kind of material not the fiberglass looking stuff.
- Q: Everyone at the barn where I board has a different answerSome say to blanket in the 30's, some say to wait till 20's.others say don't do it at allI'm trying to stay as close to the way nature intended for my horses in all aspects, but this is one of the ways I'm a little on the fence aboutWhat temp does everyone blanket (or not), what about wind, snow, etc? Also, what about stalling? I have stalls, but I want to do what makes the horses happyPersonally, if I were a horse, I wouldn't want to be cooped up in a stall all the time.
- Not just today but all week longA woman attending UT of Knoxville TN, was ran over and killed by some idiotThen there was some shooting in a schoolThen on the kentucky, virginia border there were 2 ppl that were shot and killed Its just not a one day thing it is a everyday thing of violence!
- Q: Like Acrylic, wool, cotton, silklike list them in softest to roughest and which is the best to useI want a really soft light yarn that's thick to make a scarf but i don't know what the best one to useThank you so much!
- In all honesty, the best way to tell is by touching the yarn in personThere are some yarn snobs that would never knit with acrylic yarnsSome acrylic yarns are plastic to the touch, but there are some that are extremely soft and wonderful to withI really like the feel of the wool/silk blend yarn like Lorna's Laces Lion and LambI also like Brooks Farm Solana and Four Play, which you can usually only see at fiber shows, but you can purchase onlineBaby Alpaca is another soft yarn that people knit up scarvesI've used Misti Alpaca's Hand Paint Chunky and Cascade Yarns Baby Alpaca Chunky are so soft to the touch and make a nice, warm scarvesIt's a different drape than 100% woolMalabrigo's worsted yarn is a popular choice for scarves because it knits well and is soft to the touchI like, but I tend to take special with this as can felt and pill with harder useLionbrand has also come out with newer yarns that are nice to the touch, such as their Cashmere Blend YarnSomething to consider when choosing a yarn is not only the feel, but the care afterwards (machine washable vs handwash to avoid wool from felting).

- Use a Reynolds cooking bag-turkey size and follow the directions on or in the boxThey can be found in the same aisle as foil, wax paper and baggiesGood luck! I like using them because there is no mess afterwards.
- Q: Who knows well about the production process of the ceramic fiber?
- Ceramic fiber, a type of fibrous lightweight refractory, possesses so many advantages as light weight, high temperature resistance, good thermal stability, low thermal conductivity, small specific heat and mechanical shock resistance. 1. Diameter of cellosilk: thread throwing fiber is thicker and its diameter is usually within the range of 3.0-5.0μm, while the injection silk fiber is usually 2.0-3.0μm; 2. Length of cellosilk: thread throwing fiber is longer and its length is usually within the range of 150-250mm, while the injection silk fiber is usually 100-200mm; 3. Thermal conductivity: the injection silk blanket is better than the thread throwing blanket for the former has finer fiber; 4. In terms of tensile strength and fracture resistance, the thread throwing blanket is superior to the injection silk blanket for the former has thicker fiber.
- Q: A friend of mine had a handmade Christmas stocking as a child and the quot;hairquot; beard actually grewI was wondering if this could have been possibly made of angora???
- G What has happened is not that the angora yarn grew, no hair grows after it is cut, but the yarn itself did what is known to fiber artists like knitters as bloomingWhen a yarn made from angora or mohair is spun the nature of the fiber (hair) itself is that it is very slippery, so it is spun very tightlyWhen it is knit up the twist in the yarn relaxes a bit and the fuzziness of the angora halos or spreads out which may make it appear to grow, but actually it is just the yarn getting a bit looserYes, her Santa's beard was probably angora if it was very soft and not pickyIf it felt somewhat picky it was possibly kid mohair.
- Q: I have a stuffed nose all the time i can't breath through my nose fast without it collapsing together and closing, but its worse when i go to sleep then either the right part of my nose or left part get completely blocked depending what side i sleep on, don't think i have allergics because i still have a little stuffed nose when i was in a hot tub away from everything, so i'm thinking could it be my immune system messing things up because i have an skin problem (vilitigo) which is when the immune system attacks color cells in the skin and the skin goes milky white, anyways please help me if you canmight add that i'm 18 years old male and in a good shape.
- Because your problem is worse at night, I would guess that you might be allergic to dust mitesThese are microscopic creatures feed on shed human skin cellsTheir bodies and feces have a protein (Der f1) that cause an allergic reaction in many peopleAlso, keep in mind that allergy is a chronic disorder caused by a defect in the immune systemHarmless proteins (such as Der f1 and Fel d1) are misidentified by the immune system and the body basically thinks it is under attackThese dust mites live where there is lots of food (skin) and for humans, that is the bedroomSee all those wonderful fibers that we use to make our comfy beds collect our shed skin cells and so it is like a buffet for the mitesSo, you put these special covers on the mattress, boxspring, and pillows and then you wash the sheets and blankets every 7 days in the special De-Mite stuff and it gets rid of the mitesOnce you have that under control, then you can sleep without exposing yourself to those allergens and wake up in the morning feeling so much betterI am going to give you a link to a website that tells all about those dust mites, a link to that washing stuff (I have been using it for years and it makes such a difference) and a link to a website that writes all about air cleaners (they don't sell them) because you might want to get one for your bedroom.
- Q: I originally thought mold, but the fact that the dry wall paper (not green drywall) is completely normal, there is no signs of moisture infiltration and the dark color appears to be limited to the insulation paper only I have tried to find information on the internet, but so far only sketchy information about blackening of the paper at bestAny thoughts to the issue?
- It is because of the lining of the canIf the can is aluminium you would be creating a bomb instead of harmless waterIf the water were to be shipped in a hot container then things can be fatalWater reacts fairly with aluminium but with the help of temperature it can create an explosionBut good question though to the people who don't do science. Its kinda stupid for the persons who do advanced science.
- Q: Im shopping for a new garage door. The dealer said there are rating of 1 to 15, higher the better insulation. So what exactly are they, any reference of them?
- sliced lemon salt and pepper, wrap with foil then bake or grill
