- You want a grass hayNone of us can give you exact percentages without testing the hay Do NOT use Alfalfa or anything with Alfalfa in it(Out here in California we can sometimes buy blends of hay such as BOA or BOWA, the A is alfalfa.) Meadow grass or Orchard grass I believe are the lowest proteinI believe Bermuda and Timothy are next highestAnd again, Alfalfa is way way high.

- there are two ways to insulate the floor of the attic before adding any more INSULATION product you should determine if you want to add any additional ceiling lighting to the floor below as it is easier to deal with that issue [[ or not ]] at this time the 2 types of insulation [[ R-factor ]] are either the rolled batts which are the best or blown in insulation the best determination is by having several insulation companies visit your home and give you some bids/quotes to have cost figures and get the opinion of what product will raise the R-factor to the level that will make your home more comfortable and heating and cooling more energy efficient you may also want to discuss the use of strategically and energetically placing roof vents with the insulation biddersknowing the cost and understanding what R-factors are the basis for good decisions on your part the roof is not the place to attempt any insulation and that will be better understood by asking the bidders the floor of the attic/crawl space is where the insulation dollars will benefit your home and the lowering of the energy bills I hope this helps you make a good decision .
