Q: I am in the process of building a box and I wanted to use plastic to build it. I want to find a plastic that is strong, yet light weight and durable. The design calls for thinner sheets of plastic. So my question is what type of plastic is strong, thinner, lightweight, and still on the cheap side, and where would I be able to buy this plastic?
you can just use painters drop cloths.... my dollar store has them... they are huge. a hardware or building sotre has them, but they are 7 - 8 $ each which still isnt bad...but check out dollar stores first and save a bundle. you can buy fabric ones but they are like 22$ for 2 and will cover only two pieces of furniture, i would go with plastic.... And tarps, arent thin enough or pliable enough to mold to furniture effectively, they will be constantly slipping off, plus you will pay more and have to buy more.
Q: Can plastic sheets be used for decorative lampshades?
Yes, plastic sheets can be used for decorative lampshades. They can provide a modern and sleek look to the lamp, and they are often lightweight and easy to clean. Additionally, plastic sheets come in various colors and patterns, allowing for customization and creativity in creating unique and stylish lampshades.
Q: Are plastic sheets biodegradable?
No, plastic sheets are not biodegradable.
Q: Does anyone use rubber or plastic sheet on bed?
yes we have plastic matress covers on the beds to keep them clean. we dont pee the bed, but to keep them clean, cuz we dont kno how to wash a matress, we also have plastic on our couches, at 1st it was kind of hard to get used to the stickyness, but we have gotten used to it now. we also have our pillows wrapped in plastic. then we use sheets inbetween to be comfortable and wash our sheets everyday.
Q: Can plastic sheets be used for protective covers in industrial settings?
Yes, plastic sheets can be used as protective covers in industrial settings. They are commonly used to shield machinery, equipment, or surfaces from dust, debris, moisture, or other potential damages. Plastic sheets are durable, cost-effective, and easily customizable to fit specific requirements, making them a suitable choice for industrial protective covers.
Q: i am working on an art project and I am wondering if there is a crafty type way for me to transfer the typed text from one sheet of paper to another (like to lift the ink off the paper somehow). I am not concerned about the words being recognizable or readable, I just like the aesthetic of words that don't necessarily mean anything mixed with pictures. thanks!
It's called a photocopier. Photocopy the page onto a sheet of transparent plastic. Then lay the plastic over the new sheet where you want the letters to appear. If you don't want the plastic, the process is trickier. It still can be done. Photocopy the page onto plastic as before. Then lay the photocopied plastic sheet reversed on the photocopying glass. Copy onto a piece of paper. The result will be a sheet of paper with the letters reversed. Since photocopiers use toner that is baked onto the page, you need to take the sheet with reverse lettering and iron (using a hot iron) the reversed lettering onto the page you want it to appear. Since you are reversing a reversal, the result will be correct left-to-right. It might take several tries to get the technique down right, but it is do-able. Whether it is worth it, you'll have to determine.
Q: It looks like a plastic, but I know there is a specific name for it.And maybe if you know the name, what big brand stores sell them?thank you soooo much for any help!
Photo gels, and none. They're a specialty item
Q: I'm going to college in the fall to study clarinet. I have a ton of music books that I've bought and have to buy, and I don't want them to get wrecked. They're bigger than normal paper, so they don't fit in a lot of plastic containers. How do you all store your music? I need a relatively inexpensive method that will still protect all my books and sheet music! Thanks! Is there a product out there especially for music books, like a container with a lid that specifically fits them?
First, okorder even with VAT and shipping, they are often cheaper than paying *import* prices for foreign editions. And get on a good Yahoo group for clarinetists - the FLUTENET one for flutist is great!
Q: How do plastic sheets handle bending without breaking?
Plastic sheets handle bending without breaking due to their flexibility and ability to undergo elastic deformation. The molecular structure of plastics allows them to stretch and bend to a certain extent before returning to their original shape, making them more resistant to breaking or cracking compared to rigid materials like glass or ceramics.
Q: I need just a few sheets of ABS plastic sheet, about 12X50is there anywhere that sells this for under $50?
You can buy a huge amount of plastic sheeting for very little money at any building supply place there is. Sometimes they sell it in precut rolls, sometimes you can buy it by the foot, especially in the heavier grades which will be more suitable for building something out of. That kind of plastic isn't clear, though, it's kind of cloudy to look through. You might want to check out clear vinyl at a fabric store. They sell that for using as tablecloths, and you can buy as little as half a yard. If you want to see the snakes easily, that might be a good choice for the front. It's pretty tough. If you want or need tape that will stick nicely to plastic, look for the red plastic tape used for vapour barrier in a house. It's not cheap and it's not pretty, but it's about the only tape that will really really stick to plastic. Pretty much all the others will eventually let go. Another possibility for something easy to see through is the stuff they sell for putting on windows to insulate them. It goes on with sticky stuff along the edges, the plastic gets stuck to it, then you shrink it tight with a hairdryer. It's extremely clear, tougher than it looks, you can stab it with a finger and it should be fine, but it will puncture with anything sharp. Cat's claws, for instance, did mine in when the cat swiped at a moth. You also have to be sure that you have a good clean smooth surface for the sticky stuff, or it will pull away as the plastic shrinks with the heat.
