Q: What do I need to use this as a battery charger
I hope this will help you choose your charge controller / battery charger more effectively. Good luck!
Q: I have noticed how solar panels cause a glare. Since I am not around solar panels all the time I relate it to when the sun reflects off another car and right into my eyes. So I always wonder if solar panels effect birds and/or animals due to the glare. If I am wrong and solar panels aren't this bad please tell me.
mynameismud, you are hilarious. I cried i laughed so hard. Holy crap, how old are you?
Q: Me and my wife just saw an ad on TV about going solar and saw the money we can save every month... any here have solar panels? How much do you save every month on energy bill? Is it true that your energy meter will spin backwards? lol
You okorder The notion of spinning a meter backward has a lot of people plugging in their solar panel via an inverter- but this is a very bad idea and illegal as well- the power company requires a lockout device they control to kill power in their powlines for servicing and repairs- a plugged in solar panel and inverter can cause them injury or death. If you have about 30,000 dollars to invest (cost will vary), and you are going to be staying in your home for at least 0 years, contact your electric power utility as they will have the progams in place to do the installation on your site, and install the needed equipment for you to be legally grid tied. They will also have your paperwork prepared for your tax person come tax time. Most are actually seeking people out to do this, I won't go into details why, but by listening carefully to the power company in their presentation they will indirectly tell you why. Any installation that is intended to be grid tied MUST be approved by the power company and meet their specifications. Too many people are ignoring this last detail.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a historical building?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a historical building. However, it is important to consider the impact on the building's architectural integrity and historical significance. Careful planning and consultation with preservation experts may be necessary to ensure that the installation is done in a way that respects and preserves the building's historic value.
Q: Are solar panels suitable for all climates?
Solar panels are suitable for a wide range of climates, but their efficiency may vary depending on the amount of sunlight available. While they can still generate electricity in cloudy or colder regions, they perform best in areas with high solar insolation and minimal shading. Advances in technology have made solar panels more adaptable, allowing them to be utilized effectively in various climates around the world.
Q: How do solar panels impact the local economy?
Solar panels can have a positive impact on the local economy in several ways. Firstly, the installation and maintenance of solar panels create jobs, stimulating employment opportunities. Additionally, solar energy reduces the dependence on fossil fuels, thereby decreasing energy costs and increasing savings for businesses and households. This can lead to more disposable income, which can be spent locally, contributing to economic growth. Moreover, solar energy projects attract investments and promote the growth of renewable energy industries, further boosting the local economy.
Q: If this was sold back to the grids what would be the profit i would stand to make per day on energy received in these panels? How did you come up with this answer?
This question is too generalized to answer. Are you australia? If so ergon buys the power back at 45cents a KWH which is 3 times what they sell it for.(this is guaranteed for 20years) We have a 2.4kw system and it will take approx 5years to pay itself off. Once carbon trading is in full swing electricity costs are going to go up by 40%, then obviously it will take approx half the time.
Q: I don't want to spend a fortune, maybe talking like over $200 but I would like to power my computer, the monitor, my tv, and a small fridge.I looked up the price on some but it does not make any sense to me because it says that it has reached the price of less than $ per watt but if I look up a 20 watt solar panel it is $560 dollars. Why would it not be $20 because they said $ a watt.Where would be the best place to buy the cheapest solar panels?
The first thing you need to do is look at the power needs of those things. Add up the power (Watts) to run all of those things at the same time. Then you're also in trouble if you plan to run those things when it's not peak sunlight, so you'll need some battery setup. And some appropriate fuses and diodes and a controller of some kind to protect your panels and the things you are powering. It would take a bit of physics and electrical knowledge to do this and do it safely. I built a car that ran off of solar energy in a college project last school year. We had a bank of Kyocera 50 Watt panels that cost 250 each. So, you won't be able to do this for under 200, sorry. If you wanted to spend more I could figure out everything you needed for you, but money will be a problem. And I don't know if it will really be cost effective.
Q: i also need to know how does a solar panel work
solar panel convert sunlight into electricity,The controller is connected between the photovoltaic panels and batteries,it makes electricity generated from solar panels charge batteries.
Q: Are there any risks associated with solar panel installation?
Yes, there are a few risks associated with solar panel installation. These include the potential for damage to the roof during installation, the risk of electrical shock if not installed properly, and the possibility of fire hazards if the electrical system is not correctly designed or maintained. However, by hiring professional installers and following safety guidelines, these risks can be minimized.
