- Q: I have a garage door that when i press the portable remote or the switch on the wall, it opens about 2 inches then stops. When i hold the switch on the wall i can open the garage door completely. The door closes just fine. I tried unplugging the unit for 10 minutes, but that didn't work. I tried cleaning the sensors, but that didn't work. Any ideas?
- Well, the remote is very important and no, they are not all the same. They differ greatly in terms of ease of use and range. It all depends on how far away you want to be from your door in order to open or close it. Furthermore, you will want a remote that has as few buttons as possible on it, to keep you from fumbling with it in the dark, trying to find the right button to open or close your door.
- Q: i have a 2005 malibu classic.when put in gear the doors lock automatic, but they dint.same as when cut off?
- Do not fully understand your question, so I am guessing here. Automatic door locks - doors lock when you put it into gear. However they do not unlock when you stop, put in park, or shut ignition off. You must manually unlock them yourself by either the electric door lock/unlock button , or th emanual mechanisim on ht edoor.
- Q: When the key is inserted, the doors lock as soon as the engine starts, put the car in park, turn the key to the off position, all door unlock, but you can't open the driver's side door, it just moves, until you play with the lock, back and forth until it pops open, any ideas on how to unstick it? Do I have to remove the indoor panel to do it? The last owner riveted the door panel on, instead of using the pins.
- WD 40 honey or find someone that wants to pop the door panel off. but tha'ts more labor than its worth. Ah, nothing like talking to each other over Yahoo Answers, is it honey?
- Q: I have always wondered why we have invented automatic doors and used them because it would be a lot more work to do to fit them in and make them and all they do is open by themselves.
- If they just got rid of sliding doors altogether, it would save a lot of bother. It's not exactly hard to open a door manually.
- Q: I was woundering is there a way to adjust the pressure of those automatic door closers usually found on the front door at like a small store or a hardware store, you know what I am talking about those things mounted on top of the door, is there a screw or something under that cover to adjust.
- there is a cover over the entire closer. take the cover off. the arm that connects the closer to the door comes off (it will look like a wrench). remove the arm and reinstall it on the next notch this will let the door closer pull longer in order to close the door fully. is you desire the door to close faster then on either the back or the top or the closer there is an adjustment screw (depending on the model). most commercial closers are labeled to which way to turn to tighten or loosen for speed.
- Q: what is the best automatic garage door opener?
- I do not think any one brand is the best, although Genie does make a good machine, so do other companies. So rather than talk about brands I think it is much better to talk about features. A direct drive, screw type is the best. The reason why is because it has the fewest mechanical pieces inside. If you have few pieces and fewer things that move, obviously there are fewer things to wear out or go bad. Secondly is size. If you have a one car garage a 1/2 hp opener is plenty big. If you have a 2 car garage and only one garage door you will need a 3/4 hp machine. Thirdly is options. A wireless, keyless touch pad is handy and easy to install. You want two car transmitters. Other nice features are remote lights on only and a vacation lock to turn your system off if you are going to be gone for a long time. Thieves are very smart and given enough time and the right equipment they can open the garage door as easily as you can. By turning the garage door opener off lock position it becomes impossible for them to open it no matter how many electronic devices they have.
- Q: I got a new house, idk the garage code and neither did the realtor. Any way it opens fine but.it won't even go half way down when you try to shut it and then it rolls all the way back up. It does shut manually but IM too short to reach so how can I fix it! The sensors are clear, nothing is blocking them. Idk how to see if they are aligned. Please help!
- Buy a new control box and remote. That way you will have the codes. Papaw
- Q: where should i start to troubleshoot the problem or do I need to take it into the dealership?
- With the information you have given, it sounds like 2 different items are shorting. Those items usually have seperate fuses in the fuse panel. I would take it to the dealership versus the Mobil gas station on the corner, if you know what I mean. I have forgotten, some of the new car stereos are triggered to shut off, when the door opens (after the key is removed, it will stay on). You could have some moisture in the door panels, causing a short. Just guessing, because we are about to float away. GOOD LUCK!
- Q: Automatic door opened when the door was detected and re-calculate the closing time, how is achieved? The The Such as opening the door after 5 seconds automatically shut down, and in 3 seconds is detected to enter, and recalculate, the door in the people after 5 seconds to close. The The What is the wood that greatly known? The
- It should be to receive the signal after the re-timing, sensor detection signal or other open signal control time relay opening and closing, time relay control door to open the door to keep it.
- Q: I have a 2004 Mercedes c230 sedan. The rear-driver-side door lock is broken. The physical knob that goes up and down is completely loose, not connected to anything, won't screw on to anything. It's just sitting there in the little hole. It does not lock or unlock with the automatic locks. The door is in a permanent lock from the outside, however it can be opened from the inside. Any ideas? Is this any easy fix? Could I do it myself? Thanks!
- These are air driven locks and likely the line has become disconnected or blocked. The fact that the lever is loose could also mean there are some other mechanical issues. With average logic and resourcefulness you should be able to figure out what is wrong by comparing it to the other rear door. The most difficult task is removing the door panels which can be tricky. You might also try researching the MCBA website and there posted technical articles.
