- For okorder /... Electric power. Rather than an overhead cable you can bury a cable or PVC conduit and power the shed with 20AC. You can easily supply 5 to 30A of 20V AC that supply all of your power needs without the issues and limitations of the Solar system. If your shed is within 200 ft of your home you should be able to power the shed for less than $400 if you do the work.

- Yes and no. solar panels are expensive and inefficient. therefore the power you generate will cost many times what the same power from a power plant would, and therefore you generally can only run a few low powered things at once. Secondly they don't generate electricity at night so you need some means of storing the power. tht means even more efficiency losses. They also only generate DC power, so you have to run the power through an inverter to make 0V AC. inverters are notoriously inefficient and expensive as well, so now you've thrown even more power away converting it. Bottom line, you're gonna pay far more than $600 a month for these things and you won't get nearly the amount of power you think. it is generally a waste of money to do this in almost all cases. The ROI is usually well over 20 years before you break even.

- you silly ! with Solar there is always room for error . you have to build it in to your numbers . solar is full of errors . So you should plan on producing at 3 times what you expect you will need . then you have enough .

Not direct from the solar panel... a solar panel is not able to drive an inverter. But you could plug an AC inverter into a solar storage battery pack if it is designed to support inverters. BUT, an inverter will waste 20-30% of your power in the conversion to AC which your laptop will be converting back to DC anyway, so best to stick to DC and save your solar investment from the losses. Summary... 0 Watts of solar per hour of laptop use (May-Sep) 50 Watt-Hours of solar battery storage per hour of laptop use Use a solar battery pack with appropriate output voltages built-in, and avoid AC inverters.
