- I love your color scheme- brown and pink is one of my favorites. I think a nice bright white would look really sophisticated with your paint job, plus it will go with pretty much anything you decide to shift to in the future. Cream can be a little tricky because different shades go in and out of style (think 1990's IBM PCs color!). White is white, and it's easy to match to appliances and fixtures as they come and go.

- Yes!! Scrape as much of the old glue away from the wall since anything you add will make the tile stick out farther than it did before. Next let it dry if its wet. Than apply some loctite adhesive to the back of the tile. Push the tile in until it is flush with the other tile. About four good size lines of glue will do it. Around the edges and then 4 vertical lines. This will allow the glue to expand and not hold the tile out. Wipe off any extra glue now . It hard to get off later. Let dry over night and than buy a matching grout to finish the job, Follow the instruction on the box. Good luck

- it kind of depends on the room its going in and what kind of contrast your personal style is suited to. that said, id go with a light grey or a light tan. if its in the a kitchen, go with a darker color that won't show stains as readily as a lighter grout color.

- Sorry to hear that.. Any tile will top chip inexpensive or not.. Just some more easy than others.. This depends on the type of tile..I ve always had people touch them up w/ an enamel touch up that you repair appliances with.. This will depend on colors of course .. Finger nail polish is a tougher touch up product to help too.. Not a cure or a fix but a hide.. Should you get more tile in the future and want to avoid this get a pure porcelain were color go all the way thru and not a porcelain bodied tile there is a difference GL

- not sure which glass tiles you are wanting? are you talking about glass tiles like for a kitchen backsplash or a glass window pane? if your just looking for a glass square, just go buy a cheap picture frame from a dollar store or walmart for $2 or so. take the glass out and voilaaaaaa! or if you are looking for something thicker, like a tile, try home depot or lowes and for less than $5 each you can snag some glass tiles you could also try calling a glass company (check your yellow pages) and tell them you are a student looking for glass for a class project. companies may be willing to donate to your project, especially with scraps that would be thrown out any way. good luck w/ your project

- In some measure it depends on how strong you want the tiles to be. Fired clay, in even a tile sense, is usually done at 3600 degrees in a kiln. Then cooled, painted/glazed/ etc. and fired again. At a decent pottery retailer you can find dozens of types of clay, and in fact some that is low fire, or even oven bake, which can be hand painted, and perhaps glazed over with a clear coat and no re-firing, but the strength and durability issue will still exist. Clay for tile, Ceramic or Porcelain, is slab rolled for consistency, Cut precisely, fired in kilns, cooled, then is decorated variously. Some larger houses will sell blanks that one can decorate themselves, even coffee mugs/cups/ bathroom sinks. etc. Obviously with a rolling pin and some risers, at 3/8 or 1/4, you could hand roll the clay and cut it, but then what? Below is a link for a general search to a company that can give you all the info you need in various methods and types of clay used. I spent a lot of $$$ with them in the early part of this decade. - Q:We are building a tile shower and we have gotten it framed the way we want it. We haven‘t installed the backerboard or tiles yet, just the studs are placed. Do we need to backerboard and tile the sides where the door will be, or can we install the shower door directly to the bare wood studs?
- I'll make this a simple answer, tile first.
- Q:We had to remove some tile and break out the wall behind our shower/bath wall in order to put in a new part for new fixtures. So, now we need to repair that portion of the wall (about 3‘x2‘) and re-tile it. Do we need to use greenboard (it looks like either that or just drywall was used originally) or cement board? Also, how do we join the new portion of backing to the old portion? When tiles are removed, they damage the old backing -- so I can‘t take off an extra row of tiles and then have that backer exposed in order to tape and put mortar over. Hubby says we can cut the backer to fit the opening, and then just go ahead and tile, and that the grout will effectively seam and waterproof those joints where the new backing meets the old tiled backing. Any suggestions?
- jd's answer is good, but I would re-do the full wall in question with greenboard and re-tile that wall. It will look less obvious than a repair, and the cost and labor are not allthat much higher.
