- Q: My '05 Mustang is cycling the automatic door locks while I'm driving!!? This just started and it seems like it
- You might have a loose ground or connection somewhere. Do you have an aftermarket alarm installed? They cause those sorts of problems some times.

- Q: I recently purchased a 2000 Grand Am that had the stereo stripped out by the previous owner. It appears that there may have also been an alarm installed as well that was stripped out. When I recieved the vehicle the automatic door locks did not work and still do not. When I try to use them I do hear a click noise coming from the interrior fuse box. I need to know where I should start looking for the reasoning behind why it is not working and how to go about fixing it. Any ideas?
- .The clicking you hear is the relay snapping shut. That really narrows the problem down. At least with that you know the remote, the receiver, and the coil feed is working. You need to get to the relay and see if it is getting power on the hot side (not the coil). If so then see if it is making contact to send the power to the locks. Then you'll have to just trace it to the doors. I seriously doubt both of the solenoids (part that locks and unlocks the door) went bad at the same time.
- Q: I have disconnected the chain and am working only with the motor itself at this point. The motor will operate in only one direction, but will turn by hand in the other without binding. I also ruled out sensors and up/down force adjustments. (Actually it is so old that it did not require the optional sensors.) This appears to be an issue with whatever mechanism starts the motor in the opposite direction. It does appear to have any mechanical issues that prevent this so I am thinking some sort of solenoid or something. I also burnished the little relay contacts to no avail. Sears/Craftsman Model 139.53513 Anybody have any thoughts? ( besides buy a new one ; )
- I answered this in part yesterday. Viewed from above, closing should be CW and opening should be CCW of the sprocket. If you are good at visualization if you start the motor going down and short #'s 1 and 2 again the sprocket should stop CW rotation and start CCW rotation back up . If you short 3's 1 and 2 and the motor is pulling the door up shorting 1 and 2 should stop the motor. The next short of 1 and 2 should send the door down (CW rotation). Please let me know what happened. I get very little feedback.
- Q: My automatic garage door opens, but stops after about 4 inches.?
- JimS is correct. With the door closed, disconnect the opener arm from the door (there should be a release cord). Try opening the door by hand. If unable to, or the door is difficult to open, then the door itself needs servicing. This may include a broken spring or a bad torsion bearing. I would highly recommend having a professional repair the door. If the door opens and closes without a problem, then the opener itself needs adjustment. You can try gradually increasing the open force setting until the door opens without a problem.
- Q: does anyone know how to disable the auto locking feature? we have a sprinter van at work and the doors always lock and its inconvienient. i know you can disable it, because the other one we have doesnt do it. we dont have the manual either cause it is probably in there.thanks
- never heard of factory unit doing it/its probably an add on unit /gotta get that fact settled
- Q: Would you offer to pay for the repairs?
- Yes, because if I broke it then I would feel obligated to pay for it, although you can blame it on the dog. Hee hee. =)
- Q: A couple of months ago my driver-side doors lock wouldn't work with the fob, it still locks and unlocks manually with the key. A couple months after the driver-side automatic lock stopped working, the back right door did the same thing. I think it probably has to do with a fuse, but am not sure. I know many other people have had the same problem but have had to pay a ton to get it fixed. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is and how to fix it?
- First check the fuses, if that does not resolve the issue you will probably need to replace the door lock actuators. They are relatively inexpensive and fairly easy to install.
- Q: My mom's automatic garage door was fine for years, then started slamming down with enough force to cause fatal injuries. The owner of the home is my brother and he has his own key but doesn't live here. He claims the adjustments (which need a flathead screwdriver to adjust) simply moved on their own causing the thing to damage the car and almost injure us...can this happen? It never did before. Help.
- massive city and Leslie S have lined the bases especially plenty. a million- First attempt and open the distant, there must be numerous tiny switches interior with numbers on them. (mine had 0 via 9). 2-Get a step ladder and open the plastic conceal on the lower back of the opener motor itself. (ought to have the comparable style and style of switches) 3- checklist the settings and then set the two to the comparable mixture yet distinctive from the numbers you have written down. occasion: previous placing a million-2-3 exchange them to 2-3-4 on the two the distant and the storage opener (they must be the comparable) 4- attempt it and it is going to artwork. (close each and every thing up and you're performed). 5- If the concern is the cut back swap, the door would think of it has hit an impediment and reopen as that's desperate too mushy. There are are 2 around knobs on the opener motor case that adjusts this sensitivity (a million for the down - close place and a million for the open place. A- lower back, you will want a stepladder and have the distant in you hand. Do it in the time of the sunlight hours or you will want gentle. ultimate theory, ask a chum to help who has in simple terms a splash adventure. those are ornery critters, troublesome and not in any respect beginner friendly.
- Q: I live in an aprtment. I have a garage that works automaticaly. I didnt realize that it wasnt opened all the way yet and backed into the door with my SUV. well the maintenance guy came and fixed it to the point tha it works going up and down automatically. BUT, when closed there is a gap . the door got dentted so its kind os slanted when down all the way. He said they gonna have the door people come look at it and bill me.What could the cost be. Its working but the bottom of the door is dented. so thats what needs to be fixed. the dent so the gap and be fixed. maintenance guy said probably need to replace one panel.
- Yep, if a panel is dented the only way to repair it properly is to replace the panel. A door guy could charge between 150 and 200 for it. A lot of apartment complexes get a deal from their subs it could be even less.
