- Q: I have a dinning room table that expands to 102 inches when the leaves are added. That length also means I have to spend a lot of money on a single table cloth! I think they call that banquet size.With fine linens, like everything else, costing so much these days, I really don't want Uncle Jim's red wine or Aunt Sara's coffee to totally ruin the table cloth if they spill. Not to mention, spills always seem to happen outside of a place mat.So is it really that uncool to put a non-shiny thin plastic...... something-or-other over the table cloth?

- Q: I got a new tripod for my camera recently and would like to convert my old one into something resembling a nightstand or tv tray; I was thinking of using a board or flat surface with a nut or something similar attached to the bottom that would be the right thread size to screw onto the tripod. I figure it can't be that hard, though. Any help?
- I've made specialty 'adapters' for several tripods to correct lens focal length (in virtual tour productions), by making a slim molding from wood, that mimics the profile of the camera 'wedge' that locks down on the tripod. The wedge can be screwed into whatever 'shelf' material you want from there. That top is then removable, but still fairly secure, provided you don't overload it. Mine was easy with the table saw (for the angles), but perhaps you could make one with a hand saw? Good luck.

- Yes A double pane glass could work even better, the gap insulates and helps retain heat. Note that double pane glass is sealed so you would have to work with the size you get. It also may have a coating inside that lets heat (infrared light) pass one way easier than the other. One way would keep heat inside in cold climates or reversed would help keep heat out in hot climates.

- Laminate will absolutely melt in a laser printer. The fuser in the laser Printer is designed to melt plastic. Only high Temperature plastics designed for use in laser printers will be safe tor print on.
