- Q: Does anybody know if there are any courses for solar panel installation, and/or what trades you need for this position?
- If you are in the UK, then the Centre for Alternative Technology courses (CAT in Wales) have had some great feedback.. .. A lot of companies are actively recruiting and offer training courses as part of their induction. Have a look at the bigger ones recruiting near you.
- Q: Is there any way to charge my laptop with a solar panel? Is there any panel like that. Or if I work on panels can I do something like that. If you know anything about it, can you just help me? Thanks a lot.
- A solar panel is usually 36 cells and intended to charge a 2V lead acid battery. The battery in laptops may be somewhere between 5 and 20V. The panel might charge a laptop when it is cold, but they heat up in the sun and then it would no longer charge. Typical lap top power supplies are 3 to 4 amps. You need 2 panels in series to get enough voltage to charge the battery directly, but this is wasteful. If you want to charge at the same rate as a lap top power supply you need large panels to provide 5 amps. The 5 Amp panel will only give 5A when pointed directly at the full sun. There may be between 2 and 5 hours a day equivalent full sun depending where you are, time of year. If you want more than that, you need larger panels, or more than one in parallel for a 2V system. It makes sense to charge a 2V battery with the solar panel, and use that to operate the lap top with a car type power supply for a laptop, which runs from a 2V battery (see link below for an example). Get the biggest panel you can afford, and the battery should be larger if you want to run the lap top when the sun isn't shining. Perhaps a 20AH battery is a minimum size. All this costs more than a lap top.
- Q: My house uses 500 kw a month, air conditioning is the main consumer, is it possible to install solar panels in my roof to produce this amount, and aproximate cost, thanks .
- I assume you mean 500 KWH (Kilowatt Hours) A good panel may produce about 00Watts. It will cover about 2SQ FT. Lets say you have a ranch style house that is 2000 SQ FT. That means if you covered your entire roof with panels, you could get about 65 panels on the roof(Not really, because you need room to get around them. Lets say practically you could get 00 panels on the roof. You could produce 00X00, or 0,000 Watts/hour (0 KW/HR)when the sun is at peak. Each hour you would produce 0 KW HR's. Lets say your area is perfect and the sun shines bright 0 hours a day, so You could potentially produce 00 KW HRS. There are losses envolved in the wiring, Battery Charger, Storage Batteries, and rectifier-controller. Maybe more realistically you could get 70 KW HRS per day. Maybe you could get 500 KWH in about 2 days. Each panel will cost about $500-$700. Panels alone will be over $50,000. The entire system installed about $00,000. This should cover your electric at least during sunny times. If you live outside of Arizona, lots of luck. Still much cheaper to ude the grid.
- Q: I had installed over the summer a solar panel system on my house. Hers some infofor you: I live in MOThe system cost 25K (Rounded numbers)The Rebate from the utility company was about 0KThe expected tax rebate will be about 5KI have a home office from which I work and is 5% of my homes sq footage. My question is though I am getting a basic tax rebate, should I be able to claim part of this off as an expense for my home office? It seams logical since I used to deduct part of my electric bill and I there for should be able to write off part of this. I am, after all using electricity and getting a bill from the utility that is higher than it would be if I didn't have the office2. If so which amount should it be? The full 25K or something after the rebates.
- You would have to depreciate the office portion over a very long time frame in years. Contact a qualified tax professional as home office deductions set off all sorts of red flags.
- Q: What's the best deal going on companies leasing out Solar Panels in California?
- Solar okorder
- Q: I've been reading up on Solar panels because I think in the long run this would be beneficial in the long run. My Dad had looked into it before passing and had said it was too expensive. How much does it range for getting them placed on the roof and how exactly does that work? I think I remember being told that PGE has incentives and could possibly even end up paying you for having it? What does having panels cover? I know electricity but does it also heat things up? Sorry I'm kinda dee dee dee on this lol. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has solar panels can I get your experiences with them? Thanks!!
- By producing even a small portion of your home's electricity through the use of solar panels, you will eventually experience some financial savings. This may take five years or so, but good solar panels often have a 20-year lifespan. State and federal tax credits may help offset their initial expense. The best thing about solar panel installation is that the energy it produces is clean, meaning that there aren't any bad or harmful by-products produced during the process of electricity generation. So all in all, it seems that solar energy is clean, green energy.
- Q: Can solar panels be used to power a swimming pool?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power a swimming pool. Solar panels can generate electricity from sunlight, which can be used to power pool pumps, heaters, and other equipment required for pool maintenance and operation.
- Q: How do solar panels affect the property's community engagement?
- Solar panels can have a positive impact on a property's community engagement by promoting sustainable practices and sparking conversations about renewable energy. Solar panels serve as a visible symbol of a property's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels, which can inspire and encourage others in the community to adopt similar eco-friendly practices. Additionally, solar panels can be used as an educational tool, offering opportunities for community members to learn about solar energy and its benefits, fostering a sense of environmental awareness and collective action.
- Q: I'm wondering if the cost of the panels and equipment have come down enough to make them viable in areas like Seattle or Vancuver for example.
- Take okorder /.. You need to keep in mind that as long as you are renting your electric from the public utility you are doing just that and renting. You can resale the solar electric system if you move or if you just want to sale it and get some of your money back if not 20 % extra. Then all the years you used the system was all free electric. So it is already viable as you put it. Anything other then buying a system would not be. Here is a thought. The housing market slumped and if you paid 50K for your home it is now only worth if you can even sale it about 00K. Not worth the money but people are still buying homes even if they are not worth what they are being sold for. And then the cars and trucks people buy will never pay for them selfs but people still buy them and spend extra the more wasteful the car is. So why does solar have to pay for it's self or prove it's self? It has many times over but because you can't drive a solar panel drunk and party out in the bars with it is is not worth the money. I guess the is just being human and a double standard. What about the big up front cost of solar? I remember a 20% up front cost when I bought my home and my car and it is the same 20% or less for a solar loan. Plus the value of solar is going up not down like with homes and a car is not worth but half what you paid for it the minute you drive it off the car lot. I can only see good from solar un like other things we buy.
- Q: I need a list of worldwide solar panel manufactures from china, US, Spain, Germany, Japan etc...Can any one direct ne to such place?I rather it will also contain comparison of parameters like efficiacy, quality etc and to be divedied by country of manufacturing.Thank you
- Actually Ofir, it is much easier and less expensive than you might believe. What you need is a magazine, like, Solar Today. There is only one that I am familiar with that gets into the nuts and bolts of solar panel manufacturers, installation, and other types of renewable energy. It's called, Home Power Magazine. We have a home that has been powered by the wind and sun for the last 0 years or so, and most of our initial information came from Home Power, and afterward, from many of the sources that they have in their articles. Every few issures, they take an item connected to renewable energy, such as an inverter, wind turbine, water turbine, or solar panel, and list all the different models that are available. They are broken down by manufacturer, and include specifications like power output, range of voltages, efficiency, materials, and even where they are manufactured. If you subscribe online for one year, the cost is around $25 USD, you will have access to all the previous issues that are archived on their website. You can use their search engine to locate an article listing all the solar panels, they did one a year or so ago with all the information you are looking for. Despite what you might be hearing, solar power usage is growing at an incredible rate. In the US alone, there are over 00,000 homes and businesses operating some level of solar power right now, that's good news. As far as different countries using different requirements, most all of the manufacturers today are selling their products to most countries worldwide, they are designed to meet requirements for almost anyplace you might use them. Check the magazine out today, you might learn more than you were originally looking for. I will include their link below, and some other good sources for information. You can google any one of them to find their website. Good luck, and take care...Rudydoo
