3. What is the sample policy?

Q: If I attach three feet of chain from a hoist to the lifting eyes which are bolted to the cylinder head will this be enough to lift the engine. Do I need to wrap chains around the engine to support the whole thing or will lifting it directly from the eyes support it enough?.: Using the eyes is the correct procedure as that is what they are used for. Wrapping the chains around the engine may be dangerous becuase your engine is most likely not perfectly balanced and it may come out twisted, or worse yet, flip over. There are many other factors which should also be considered. What material are the chains made of? What is the strength of the material? How heavy is the engine? Are all three chains divided equally to share the load or are they strong enough to unequally share? What is the lifting capacity of the hoist? In other words, just be sure that you have enough force to safely pull the engine.
