- The first thing you need to do is put the gerbil in a closet, bathroom, or another room at night so you can sleep and the gerbil can make noise. :) Gerbils will shred anything and everything so ideally they should be kept in glass aquararium tanks which are easier to clean and therefore more sanitary and healthier for your pet. Wire cages only encourage rodents to poke their noses through and chew on the bars. That's unsanitary because it's hard to clean and they'll often get sores on their noses from doing that. Also, since respiratory infections are common you want ventilation, but not a draft. So get rid of the plastic - it'll get chewed to bits eventually anyway - and get a tank. Also put plenty of chewing blocks in there so your gerbil can keep it's teeth filed down. That noise can also be loud, but it's a necessary for them to chew and you just put them in another room.

- I suppose that tubing will be used horizontal at all times during the course of operation with out any fittings. If yes then get pressure at the outlet end by Q (Flow)= Pressure x Area (inner) Find pressure drop from any sourse ( e.g. Ask manufacturer for pressure drop per 1000 foot) Add pressure drop of entire lenght to pressure from formula. Have 20% safety factor added. In case of any fittings used add pressure drop of fittings (from Mfg.) to pressure drop of tubing, if height changes; for every 2.31 feet have a loss of 1 PSI added to original loss of tubing before adding safety factor. - Q: My little brother just got 2 gerbils. One of them is fine going in the tubes and coming back down, but the other won't go up. He will climb down if you put him up there, but he won't climb up on his own. Their sleeping area is on the top floor, and there's another floor with his food and water on it. The water bottle will only fit in that spot, so there's no other way to move the bottle. Also, how do i get them to figure out how to use a water bottle?
- Until your gerbil gets the hang of it, put the food on the level he does have access to. At times all it takes is a little time for them to realize there's more to their home. Once he does, he'll be able to have the food where it currently is. I do wish to make sure you know that gerbils do chew through plastic and make quick work of tubes and tunnels. Within a couple weeks there could be a hole large enough for him to get out. Please just keep an eye on him to make sure he's not chewing on it. If he is, you may want to put him in a safer cage. I've seen many gerbils chew through the Critter Trail cages and many distraught owners wondering how to find their gerbils once they have escaped.
