Q: My 99 Ford Escort has been making sloshy water sounds and whistling sounds on the passenger side of the car when I run the A/C. I have also noticed that the floor is damp on the passenger side only. If I look up under and behind the glove compartment there is a black plastic box that is covered with condensation within a few minutes of running the a/c. Based on what I've read, this problem is probably a blocked drain rather than the heater core (I live in Florida and haven't touched my heater in 6 months :P). Can anyone confirm? The noise has also been getting worse, I noticed the damp floor a week or two ago, but the water noises have only kicked up the past 2 days. Will running the a/c without fixing it permanently damage anything? If I can't locate the drain to unblock and have to take it into the mechanic, how much would I be looking at? Thanks!
It ( might) be a block A/C drain outlet which is on the bottom of the firewall in the engine comp. It should look like the size of your little finger a black piece of rubber. take a piece of wire and try to probe the inside. You say your floor board is wet, check your coolant level in the radiator, if it is low than it could be your heater core is leaking. Coolant will have a smell compared to just plain water.
Q: Can plastic tubes be used for chemical transfer?
Yes, plastic tubes can be used for chemical transfer. They are commonly used in various industries for transferring a wide range of chemicals due to their resistance to corrosion, affordability, and flexibility. However, the choice of plastic material should be carefully considered based on the specific chemical being transferred, as some chemicals may react with certain types of plastics.
Q: Can plastic tubes be used for storing cleaning agents or detergents?
Yes, plastic tubes can be used for storing cleaning agents or detergents. Plastic tubes are commonly used for packaging various liquid products, including cleaning agents and detergents, due to their durability, versatility, and resistance to chemical reactions. They provide a reliable and convenient solution for storing and dispensing such products.
Q: What is the maximum pressure plastic tubes can handle?
The maximum pressure that plastic tubes can handle depends on the specific type of plastic and its thickness. It is important to consult the manufacturer's specifications or testing data for the specific plastic tube being used to determine its maximum pressure rating.
Q: A piece of plastic tubing is 19 inches long and must be divided into 6 smaller pieces each at least 2 inches long. What is the largest length of tubing possible?
9 in. If 5 pieces are 2 inches long, that leaves 9 inches for the last piece.
Q: Are plastic tubes resistant to chemicals?
Yes, plastic tubes are generally resistant to chemicals. However, the level of resistance can vary depending on the type of plastic used and the specific chemical involved.
Q: What are the common fittings used with plastic tubes?
Some common fittings used with plastic tubes include compression fittings, push-to-connect fittings, barbed fittings, and threaded fittings.
Q: What industries commonly use plastic tubes?
Plastic tubes are commonly used in a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, cosmetics, medical, plumbing, construction, and automotive.
Q: I don't think it's a problem, but she's worried it's going to cause some sort of problem. We live in an apartment, so we're on a sewage system. The tube was a little bigger than a SMALL toothpaste tube. Maybe two fingers wide. Should I be concerned? Should the guy who lives below me be concerned?
I think you are ok. I wouldn't call anyone until there is actually a problem. Most likely it has already went to the tank by now. Even if it gets stuck in a trap you can unloose it with a plunger to get it to go down into the tank.
Q: What is the maximum diameter-to-length ratio for plastic tubes?
The maximum diameter-to-length ratio for plastic tubes can vary depending on the specific type of plastic and the intended application. However, generally speaking, plastic tubes typically have a maximum diameter-to-length ratio of around 10:1.
