- Q: i can't set the screen resolution to 1680x1050, which is it's correct resolution. windows show me the list of resolutions that they r not supported by the monitor, like 2900xsomething. but not 1680x1050and also it can't show me the right refresh rates, now it is giving me a list starting from 60hz to 150hz where the monitor only supports 60hz. i removed the monitor from system, i removed the drivers of nvidia, i even formatted the pc and reinstalled the windows. but nothing changed it, if u can help i'd really appreciate.
- all i can suggest is you get the latest drivers from nvidia
- Q: I have a 19” tube monitor now. I have vision problems and plan to buy a 22” wide screen. I make everything larger and I usually need to scroll left and right to see everything. Are there things I should avoid or look for when buying one?
- yes there are definitely things to look out for. refresh rate is how fast the screen refreshes so depends on what you're doing, if watch movies or game, then you want one with the lower rate. contrast ratio is how bright the colors can be. usually the higher contrast ratio the more vivid your colors cuz they can be brighter than the dark 700:1 means the brightest pixel is 700 times brighter than the darkest pixel. a higher contrast ratio could mean the dark is actually dark. there are some monitors that that black part of a screen/movie/background, looks gray because its so bright you will want a monitor with DVI(digital) if your video card/computer has a DVI output. VGA (analog) is lower quality on LCD screens, the items on your screen will appear more fuzzy. resolution is a big part of LCD's with the old type (CRT) you can have a lower resolution to make things on your screen look bigger, but things will not be fuzzy or smeared looking. with LCD, when you goto a lower resolution, things will look very fuzzy. but at the recommended resolution, everything on the screen will look tiny.
- Q: What is the optimum temperature and maximum temperature? How long will the life span be at higher temperatures?.
- Usually work at normal temperature. However, low temperature operation and high temperature operation can not be a problem.Because the brand monitors are sold all over the world, will sell cold places or perennial hot places. These will be tested in the factory.Long term operation of high temperature, you can also meet the specifications of the life of the display standard.Above for reference! Hope to adopt
- Q: Hi,Anyone can please give me some recommendation on a very good 30 lcd monitor. Price is not important as long as it worths it.The ones I have found on the web are Dell, Apple, Samsung, HP and Acer. Thanks!
- For Graphics work our Studio uses Apple's Cinema Displays. The dot pitch is .250mm on the 30 LCD which is really fine for a 30 display and the screen supports 14ms refresh which is good enough even if you're capturing or editing fast action video scenes. The maximum resolution supported by the screen is 2560X1600 so you'll need a video card to match. The downside to such high resolutions is that you may need to get prescription glasses because everything is so small. We use the GretagMacbeth Eye-one to colour calibrate our screens which is a big plus. The thin border also gives your eye the impression that the screen is larger than it is. Having said that when you sit less than 3 feet away from a 30 screen it is big! If you don't own a Mac you'll also need a MAC DVI to PC DVI convertor and you'll also need a graphics card that can support such high resolutions. The NVidia 7600GT, 7900 and 7950 cards all support up to 2560X1600 but the 7600GT only supports it on one of the two DVI connectors! The ATi graphics cards also support such a high resolution but I'd start with the X1800 range and go up from there. ATi deliver better overall quality picture for 2D surfaces than Nvidia but you'd need to read a few reviews and see them running side by side to know there was a difference! Hope this helps
- Q: I have an HP LCD 19 inch wide screen monitor which came with HP desktop. I'm using DVD-to-VGA adapter and VGA cable to connect the monitor to the Nvidia graphic card. Some games does change the refresh rate of my monitor. Each time when I run or exit some game which will change my refresh rate, my monitor go blank. I have to turn off my monitor and turn it on again to see the screen. Why this problem occurred? Is there any solution?Don't summarize your answer. Give as much details as possible.
- It's becasue they arn't designed to go any higher. Only recently have refresh rates gone up to 120Hz on the extremely expensive top end LCD TV's. Going above 75Hz is hard to tell the diffrence, above 120 would be nye' on impossible.
- Q: I am looking for a 22'' DVI LCD monitor for gaming dvd watching. What brand to choose and why?
- Anything but Dell DO NOT BUY Dell monitors. They stink. My laptop lcd doesn't work anymore you ask them to fix it they tell ou to pay something between $600-$700 ( the cost of a new laptop) DO NOT BUY THESE
- Q: About a year and a half ago I bought a Dell 1905FP UltraSharp 19 LCD monitor. Just recently I purchased another to setup dual-screen. I noticed after putting my new monitor next my old one that my old one's picture and colors are different. Messing with the settings of the monitor made no difference. My older monitor is revision 00 while my newer one is revision 03.My newer one displays more vivid colors and a more true white while my older one seems to have a yellow-ish tint to the white. Black is also different between the two, for example on the Windows flying object screen saver.Has anybody else ever noticed anything like this with two supposedly identical monitors?
- adjust your gamma settings in your gpu,or in the control panel if you dont have a gpu.
- Q: I have a Gateway computer, not even a year old, and the LCD monitor isn't working. When I turn the computer on, it lights up for a second and the Gateway logo comes on, and then it just goes black and won't do anything, but the buttons on the sides light up. What do I do?
- sometimes you can unplug the lcd monitor for awhile, plug it back in and try again - might help. this has happened to me too - and chances are that the video drivers need to be reinstalled - i use an old video card to do this because your current video card will not get a display at all - I don't know how to help you unless you have an old video card to use. A computer shop could reinstall the drivers pretty cheaply.
- Q: i just got a new LCD monitor. there was a sheet of paper that came with it, that said we are not supposed to touch it because it could damage it. how, then, am i supposed to clean it when it gets dirty? any help appreciated. thank you.
- Have a mixture that composes 50% of alcohol and 50% distilled water in a bottle. Then turn off you computer and wipe your monitor with microfiber cloth. Wipe it down and make sure the screen is dry before turning it back on.
- Q: I just received a 22 monitor and it came with a DVI-D cable and a VGA cable. Originally I plugged in just the VGA but out of curiosity I checked my graphics card and it supports a DVI-D connection. So, I unplugged the VGA and plugged in the DVI-D cable.I'm not sure if there is supposed to be a difference visually.I also don't know if you are supposed to have both plugged in together or just the DVI-D by itself. Thanks in advance,Sean
- DVI-D will give a better picture. All LCD monitors are digital. So the monitor has to sample the analog signal and convert it. It needs to do this at the center of each pixel, but there is no signal from the system to tell the monitor when this is. So the monitor has to look at the video signal and reverse engineer the pixel clock to work out where to sample. As you go up in resolution this gets harder as the pixels become shorter periods of time. A poor video card and EMI fixes on the system and monitor make this harder too as the signal takes time to change from one pixel to the next. The result can be a slight shimmer or jitter in the screen. The auto setup routines have gotten a lot better, but are not always perfect. A DVI-D link gets rid of this problem. Only connect one. Unless you want to run an extended desktop across the one monitor, using the monitor's input select button to switch between the left and right sides of your extended desktop. (Not worth it IMHO.)
