Thank you in advance.: John R has it right, additionally riding with no exhaust will damage the exhaust valves and seats because of the excessive heat caused from not having any back pressure in the exhaust. Drag bikes etc don't suffer that problem because the valves and valve seats are made of better material than is 'standard' kit in a road bike. Your bike will drop performance compared to having a good quality muffler fitted. A loud exhaust does no mean more horsepower.

If you've already tried something containing acetone, then you may want to consider using some super fine grit sandpaper, or a dry Scotch scrubbing pad (the type you use on pots pans). You might also try dropping some of the polish remover onto the surface, covering it with a glass or something to keep it from evaporating, and leaving it sit for a few minutes. Clean up and repeat. It may take more than 1 attempt. Proceed with caution and do a small spot at at time to avoid getting marks or stains on the ceramic from the chemicals or the abrasives. If none of these solutions work, hopefully you have some extra tiles and the damaged ones could be cut out and replaced.
