Q: in the soil. what is it? i assume it is not real gold. but it looks just like gold flakes, and is really soft like gold too.
It's probably fools gold. Just in case sift it out of the dirt. Take it to one of those places that purchases gold and they will tested on the spot. If it is gold keep your mouth shut buy all of those plants that you can, and take your money to the mint. Sorry I met bank. LOL
Q: Hi,I need to make a shedding house for my leopard Gecko.i know you can use vermiculite with no added chemicals but can i use vermiculite with a little perlite mixed in it??? cuz thats all i have right now and she is starting to shed.and i dont want her to get sick or diethanks let me know
Yes, and no. If it is under 6 in length use wet paper towels in the shed boxes. they wont stay damp for quite as long, but its much safer. If it is over 6 the danger of becoming impacted from ingesting any of the vermiculite/perlite is less, and shouldn't be problem. I just stay away from perlite, as i don't have experience with it. I do use vermiculite for my adults, as well as egg incubation.
Q: She is gravid but she is not close to laying her next clutch of eggs yet. I have an egg laying box with vermiculite in the vivermiam. Her poop had shiny stuff from the vermiculite and then white stuff on the poop has yellow spots on it. Can she be constipated if she at the vermiculite? But why is she not eating her shed skin? SHE USED TO EAT IT BEFOREI also got a 5-6 year old male who also does not eat his skin but i helpe him shed. Why doesnt he eat it as well?
they probably don't want to, most of ours do but sometimes we just take it of for them if the seem like they don't want to.
Q: If I want to repot a houseplant to a bigger container, what kind of soil do I use?
I'd repot in multi purpose compost! Quick, easy and relativey cheap.
Q: Household plants and such, not grass.
i have no idea what home oxygen is, but ANY additional amount of gaseous oxygen near a burning process will speed it up. faster burning means bigger and most importantly HOTTER flames, since more energy is set free in the same amount of time. the more oxygen the bigger the effect.
Q: I have a 16 x32 Inground pool with steel walls and vermiculite bottom. I am getting a new liner installed tomorrow and the pool guy drained the pool yesterday. We are getting a lot of rain today and Im worried about the ground water affecting the bottom, like it is going to push out the vermiculite bottom. Is this something to be worried about? Also the pool guy says he is going to have the old liner ripped out and the new one ready for water in 1 ? hours. Is this possible? He thinks I have water leaking into the bottom underneath the liner already. Is that a big deal? Another thing he said was that he was going to cut in the main drain in the center of the deep end before they start to add water. I thought you had to put about 12” of water in before you cut the main drain in to insure that it is seated properly and the liner stretches correctly. Anyone who could ease my mind on some of these questions, your knowledge would be appreciated.

Q: Would it be safe to bring in a dry log from out side and put it in my terrarium with my T or dose this pose a threat to my T‘s health?
It can pose a threat, depending on if it came from a part of the yard that may have been treated with chemicals. It could also have mites or other microorganisms living in the wood. Your best bet is to sterilize the branch before you put it in with your T. There are different methods of doing this- you can boil it in water, or bake it in the oven to kill anything that could be harmful. You'll want to thoroughly clean it first to make sure any chemicals are gone.
Q: i have been getting into glass blowing but the place i was learning packed up and left and i have a setup to do it at home but have no kiln. how do i slowly cool down my pieces without a kiln. Ive heard I can use vermiculite but i want to make sure before i try that it will work
a garden center or a store that sells a lot of plant stuff.
Q: I surface sowed the seeds on normal pot soil in a tray and did not cover the seeds at all. I put these seeds under a T5 grow light for 16 hours a day, and in 3 days I already found out they had their little root germinated! But here is what the packet instructions say:Place seed on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost of compost or vermiculite. Seal container inside a polythene bag and keep 15-20C (59-68F) until after germination can take 1-3 months. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.Well, it seems that light is the MAJOR determinant of the germination!
Not necessarily. All it may indicate is light is necessary, not a major determinant. Nowdon't start crowing yet.some plantsand I don't know if C.routundifolia is one.have a secondary hibernation after germination. Lisianthus for example with germinate and then must go thru a second hibernation where it will not grow!!! for several month until the second hibernation factors are overcome. It's enough to pull one's hair outwhich might explain a few things. Still, congrats on getting them up, may damp-off not find your little babies.
Q: My uncle put in a new ceiling fan for us this evening. He had to crawl in our attic to do this. He knocked out what I thought was just some dust an plaster. I had my husband vaccuum it up. Only after the fact did we realize there was some vermiculite in those chunks. We had some small traces of silvery flakes on the floor which we've been using a mop to clean up. But there is a small amount that got on the carpet. How should I clean that up? I'm kind of creaking out about asbestos exposure. What else should we do? How consurned should I be about this?
dont seperate the eggs or you might mess something just keep them like that it wont affect anything anyways. what i do is first i out the vermiculite in a cup with water. then i squeeze all the water from the vermiculite and that should be the right amount of water without doing all that weighing. then i put the vermiculite in the tupperware container and put the eggs in them. make sure that when you put the egg in the container you have to put it in how it was laid or else it will drown. and just keep the container closed and one a week ope the lid for a couple of hour to let air flow in there and thats about it.
