Q: Can solar panels be used to power a hotel?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power a hotel. By installing a sufficient number of solar panels, a hotel can generate a significant amount of electricity to meet its power needs. This not only helps to reduce energy costs but also promotes sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Q: For my Product Design Coursework I am designing an environment friendly building according to a clients' specifications. I need to find out the dimensions of 0000 watt solar panels. any help would be much appreciated!
do those even exst that sounds prertty intesnse andn i see amny things that wou;ld go wrong with that i think you should like tone it done a bit that sounds pretty intense tho
Q: I would like to know if I had a mobile kitchen could I power it from solar panels mounted atop the vehicle (truck).(to power electric kitchen equipment, i.e. stove, deep fryer.), instead of propane…could I possibly connect the solar panels to a battery to save my generated electricity? If solar panels would not be enough power could a small windmill suffice…?
Nice enough idea you have there, but practical reality is waiting to bring you back to your senses. The appliances you want to operate take a lot of power. You would need an awful lot of solar cells or a very cumbersome windmill to provide sufficient energy for them. You will find that for a mobile kitchen, an ordinary generator running on gasoline or diesel will be much less expensive to buy and maintain, less trouble to haul around, and much easier to replace if necessary. Considering that propane will probably prove less expensive yet, go with that for as many appliances as possible.
Q: What about sources for straight forward solar powered products? Excluding toys, garden frogs and outdoorpath lights I have found few useful items for the home. What I have found are solar panels for under $00 each, inverters, rechargeable indoor lights and a few camping/RV products that are interesting. It seems to me that these could help me start to wean the family off the power company. I can't afford to go cold turkey and cover my roof with solar panels and I don't think the HOA would allow me to even if I could. Is anyone using solar on a small scale?
I have an active solar heater on my roof. During the winter it comes in handy and heats the house, though we still need to use a gas heater to get the temperature up to a comfortable level.
Q: please no dumb answers and list where you got the info. Also how much does it cost to install solar panels for a regular sized house?
Short version is that the sunlight knocks electrons loose from a semiconductor panel, and those loose electrons generate an electrical current. The solar panels have lots of cells arranged in series parallel to get to a higher voltage (usually 2 or 24 volts) and current. This is sent to charge batteries under the control of a charge controller. The voltage from the batteries is sent to an inverter that converts the 2/24 volts to 20/240 VAC for household usage. .
Q: I know what they do and how they work, but at this point they're expensive, don't always produce enough electricity as needed, and can't be used when there's no sun, as in half the day. Wouldn't wind power seem so more efficient? Or if they do use solar panels, how about putting them in the desert. But I really believe that research money should go to fusion generators since that's the future and the answer to our problems. Which is best in your opinion?
It absolutly depends on where you live. I don't have enough wind in my area for a wind turbine to do any good. I just installed solar, the system will pay for itself in about 6 years. I didn't get a system that will zero out my electcity usage, but it will dramatically be decreased. I can always add to it in a few years. Since I plan on living here forever I will see a great financial benift.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a pergola or gazebo structure?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a pergola or gazebo structure. These structures provide a suitable platform for solar panel installation and can help maximize sunlight exposure for energy generation. Additionally, installing solar panels on a pergola or gazebo can serve a dual purpose by providing shade and generating clean, renewable energy.
Q: what do solar panels do?
The solar panels are made of solar cells. A cell is a small disk of a semiconductor like silicon. They are attached by wire to a circuit. As light strikes the semiconductor, light is converted into electricity that flows through the circuit. As soon as the light is removed, the solar cell stops producing power.
Q: Can solar panels be damaged by hail?
Yes, solar panels can be damaged by hail. Hailstones can cause cracks or breaks in the glass surface of solar panels, potentially reducing their efficiency or causing them to stop working altogether. However, the extent of damage largely depends on the size and intensity of the hailstorm, as well as the quality and durability of the solar panels.
Q: What are the different types of solar panels?
There are three main types of solar panels: monocrystalline, polycrystalline, and thin-film. Monocrystalline panels are made from a single crystal structure, making them highly efficient but also more expensive. Polycrystalline panels are made from multiple crystal structures, offering a slightly lower efficiency but a more affordable price. Thin-film panels are made by depositing a thin layer of semiconductor material onto a substrate, making them flexible and lightweight, but with lower efficiency compared to crystalline panels.
