- Q: I am confused. I am planning to build a simple 2Watt solar system to power some lights in my house. . I wonder if it is possible to power up a 2Watt bulb using 2Watt solar power?2. Normally, when we are reading the power rating of a bulb, we will read the wattage, so what about the voltage and current rating?3. If the current is insufficient, will the bulb light up?I am having a solar panel that can output 2W power but I am not sure about the output voltage, how can I find out about the current? I am getting really confused.
- Hey, okorder
- Q: What is the difference between monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels?
- Monocrystalline solar panels are made from a single crystal structure, typically silicon, which results in a uniform appearance and higher efficiency. Polycrystalline solar panels, on the other hand, are made from multiple silicon fragments, resulting in a less uniform appearance and slightly lower efficiency.
- Q: what size would the panel be/ I live in the caribbean so plenty of sun!
- Do you live in a cold place in the Carribean? If it's anything like Hawaii, a pool heater, solar or otherwise, is unnecessary. As for the electricity to run your pool pump, I think the best course is to run it off the same electricity as your house, not a standalone system. You can then displace some of the electrical usage of your house with grid-tied solar, if it makes financial sense. There's a good chance of this if your electric rates are high. Contact a local solar installer to find out.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a concert venue or entertainment facility?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a concert venue or entertainment facility. Solar panels can be mounted on rooftops, parking lots, or even integrated into the design of the venue itself. These installations can help offset the energy consumption of the facility, reduce carbon emissions, and potentially save on electricity costs in the long run.
- Q: They have been around long enough to be cheaper. Unless they are made out of a natural material that is rare and hard to find, there is no reason why they should be so expensive. On another note, I think that all low power devices like cell phones and even laptops should have solar panels. Even if it is not enough to fully power the device for a long period of time, it will provide some electricity savings and with millions of people saving a little power adds up.
- Photo okorder /... Notice it costs over $200 and it takes up a sizable amount of space. Plus you have to expose it to bright sun light. Over all this is not something the average consumer wants to spend money on or fuss with. If something is expensive, difficult or inconvenient to use then people won't use it. Just the basic economics of such a device limits its sales never mind its functionality and usability. Even if you made a small one buit into the cover to extend the battery you won't get much of an extension and you will increase the cost of your laptop. Consider how people shop, will they buy the more expensive laptop for a questionable amount of battery extension? Mass production can lower costs but in order to mass produce something you need a demand that will consume what you produce. But if no one wants the item because of the aforementioned issues than you can't justify mass producing the item. This is like the classic which came first Chicken or Egg problem, one doesn't happen without the other. Cost reduction doesn't happen without consumer demand. This is where tax incentives, subsidies, low cost loans and energy buyback contracts come into play in order to spur on demand and jump start mass production. You could also make electricity extremely expensive by taxing oil and carbon so that a Solar Cell becomes economically competitive to very expensive electricity. Problem with this option is the negative impact high energy costs have on economic activity. Just look at what happened a couple of summers ago when gas hit $4/gal. To spur on demand we need to incentives the use of Solar cells (and other alternative energy). This can be done through several means such as subsidies, tax incentives, low interest loans, energy buyback contracts etc...
- Q: I have four power packs for solar lights. They have 3 AA .2volt batteries of 2450 mAh capacity installed in series for a total supply voltage of 4 volt maximum for the lights. I want to charge all four packs at once off a single 6 volt solar panel. With the four packs wired in parallel, what capacity output (wattage) panel do I need to charge the batteries in an 8 hour day?
- 3 cells in series makes a 3.6volt 2.4AH battery. You multiply the volts but not the capacity. In parallel would be .2volts, triple capacity. So 4 packs in parallel is 9.8AH. Rule of thumb for charging a flat battery is divide capacity by 0 for amps and charge for 5 hours. amp at 6 volts is doable, that would be 6 watts People who make batteries and solar cells usually over-rate them so I doubt that a solar panel of less than 20 watts rating will fully charge these batteries if they are flat. I'd google to see how you might control the charge current with a simple circuit.
- Q: Dose a solar panel need the entire range or spectrum of sunlight to produce power?
- I think it's in the Ultra-Violet range because Solar Panels will still put out almost full power on an overcast day.
- Q: How do you make solar panels and do you need a lot of them to make electricity?
- Homemade okorder
- Q: how would you build a solar panel
- As a sandwich. Glass Space /4 inch Glass Space with copper radiator painted flat black. Box made of wood. with the inside painted black. Insulate the back side. Use water with RV antifreese. Circulate water through with a small pump. Face it toward the sun. Thermal water solar Panel.
- Q: I have a building company in UK and am interested in becoming a solar panel installation contractor
- Contact some solar panel manufacturers or distributors. I recently started working for a solar panel dealer and they can't find enough qualified workers to install here in the US. Desperately seeking electricians but don't pay well.
