Q: Can plastic tubes be used for plumbing?
Yes, plastic tubes can be used for plumbing. Plastic pipes, such as PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or PEX (cross-linked polyethylene), are commonly used in plumbing systems due to their durability, flexibility, and resistance to corrosion. They are often used for water supply lines, drainage systems, and even underground installations.
Q: Are plastic tubes suitable for storing chemicals?
Yes, plastic tubes are suitable for storing chemicals as long as they are made from chemically resistant materials such as polypropylene, polyethylene, or PTFE. These materials can effectively withstand the corrosive properties of various chemicals and maintain their integrity, preventing any contamination or leakage. However, it is important to carefully select the appropriate plastic tube based on the specific chemical being stored to ensure compatibility and safety.
Q: Can plastic tubes be easily cleaned or sterilized?
Yes, plastic tubes can be easily cleaned and sterilized. They can often be cleaned with soap and water, or by using a disinfectant solution. Additionally, plastic tubes can withstand high temperatures, allowing them to be autoclaved or sterilized using steam or dry heat methods.
Q: It seems to me that if this country is serious about environmental issues, we should not be packaging products in anything that cannot be recycled. The world is becoming one big garbage dump!
All plastics can be recycled - as long as there is a recycling facility capable of recycling them. Plastics do degrade each time they are recycled, but they can serve many uses. We need to purchase those items that can be recycled where we live, this forces the companies making the items to use recyclable materials. Certain facilities can only recycle certain types of plastics, usually the ones they can make a profit from. For example, it is not cost effective to fill a semi with styrofoam from Michigan for processing in Florida or California, one of the few places where it is recycled. To find out how you can recycle plastics in your area and learn more about recycling go here:
Q: My 99 Ford Escort has been making sloshy water sounds and whistling sounds on the passenger side of the car when I run the A/C. I have also noticed that the floor is damp on the passenger side only. If I look up under and behind the glove compartment there is a black plastic box that is covered with condensation within a few minutes of running the a/c. Based on what I've read, this problem is probably a blocked drain rather than the heater core (I live in Florida and haven't touched my heater in 6 months :P). Can anyone confirm? The noise has also been getting worse, I noticed the damp floor a week or two ago, but the water noises have only kicked up the past 2 days. Will running the a/c without fixing it permanently damage anything? If I can't locate the drain to unblock and have to take it into the mechanic, how much would I be looking at? Thanks!
You are probably correct about the a/c drain tube. If it were the heater core, there would be a coolant smell and your coolant level would drop and by now the engine would be getting hot. It shouldn't cost that much to have someone open the drain tube, but you should be able to do it yourself. Look in the engine compartment on the firewall at approximately the center of the car just a little toward the passenger side of center. There should be a black rubber or plastic tube protruding and pointing down or down and back. You may need a piece of wire to snake up the tube to loosen whatever is clogging it. Be careful with the wire and don't just shove it all up in there. Just through the tube is far enough
Q: A 0.596 kg metal cylinder is placed inside the top of a plastic tube, the lower end of which is sealed off by an adjustable plunger, and comes to rest some distance above the plunger. The plastic tube has an inner radius of 7.07 mm, and is frictionless. Neither the plunger nor the metal cylinder allow any air to flow around them. If the plunger is suddenly pushed upwards, increasing the pressure between the plunger and the metal cylinder by a factor of 2.31, what is the initial acceleration of the metal cylinder? Assume the pressure outside of the tube is 1.00 atm. Please answer in m/s^2. Thank you!
Before the sudden push, the net force on the metal cylinder is zero. This means downward force = upward force p0 A + m g = p A, where p0 is atmospheric pressure, p the pressure of the trapped air, m the mass of the metal cylinder, g the acceleration due to gravity and A the inner cross sectional area of the plastic tube. If the pressure p is momentarily increased to 2.31 p, then there is a net upward force of magnitude Fnet_up = 2.31 p A - p0 A - m g = 1.31 p0 A - 1.31 m g This net force gives rise to an acceleration that obeys Newton's second law: m a = Fnet m a = 1.31 p0 A - 1.31 m g a = 1.31 p0 A /m - 1.31 g = 1.31 * 1.01*10^5 N/m^2 * ( pi * (7.07*10^-3 m)^2 ) / 0.596 kg - 1.31 * 9.81 m/s^2 = 22.0 m/s^2
Q: Can plastic tubes be used for storing liquids?
Yes, plastic tubes can be used for storing liquids as they are often made from materials that are resistant to corrosion and leakage, making them suitable for a wide range of liquid storage applications. Additionally, plastic tubes can be manufactured in various sizes and shapes, making them versatile for different liquid storage needs.
Q: i tried puttin super glue to the end of a coat hanger but it didnt work. what are some other ways i can fish it out. it is about 3 or 4 inches deep
1. Try using a piece of rubber tubing that is just large enough to fit over the dipstick but small enough to go into the dipstick tube and that is long enough to do the job without getting lost inside the tube, about a foot or two long piece should do. It should only cost a few bucks at the auto parts store for them to cut a piece of tubing for you. You also may need a long flat-tip screwdriver to position the dipstick away from the dipstick tube wall and towards the center of the dipstick tube. Gently push the tubing over the dipstick end and then slowly pull it out of the dipstick tube. 2. If this doesn't work then the dipstick tube *should* be removable, sometimes nut or bolts will hold it secure in place and those items as well as any parts in the way of access of the dipstick tube will need to be removed. Good luck!
Q: Can plastic tubes be used for electric wire protection in outdoor applications?
Yes, plastic tubes can be used for electric wire protection in outdoor applications. Plastic tubes, such as PVC or polyethylene, are commonly used due to their durability, resistance to weather conditions, and ability to protect wires from moisture, UV rays, and physical damage. However, it is important to choose the appropriate type and thickness of plastic tube based on the specific requirements and environmental conditions of the outdoor application.
Q: im dying to buy one on OKorder but dont remember the name of them ?they are about 5ft plastic tube it stands upright and is a light filled with water that bubbles and lights blue or green etcthey used to sell them in the gadget shops
I know just what you're talking about, in fact I used to have one. I figured you could find them just doing a google search, but no, there doesn't appear to be anything out there. I suspect the company went out of business.
