Q: Are solar panels durable?
Yes, solar panels are durable. They are designed to withstand various weather conditions, including hail, snow, and strong winds. Additionally, most solar panels come with warranties that guarantee their performance for 25 to 30 years, indicating their long-lasting durability.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a sports stadium?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a sports stadium.
Q: I'm doing a project for school and I'm a little confused about energy and solar panels. I'm looking to propose installation of solar panels to power the computer lab at my school. From what I've read a computer and monitor use roughly 350 watts per hour. I was looking at solar panels and it says they produce various wattage. For example, I was looking at one rated at 200 watts. Does that mean 200 watts in a day? Or per hour? Please help.
The rating of a solar panel is a maximum continuous rating. A 200 Watt panel will give a maximum of 200 watts under ideal conditions. A computer and monitor use about 400 Watts. not per hour - watts is Volts * Amps and a measure of Power. In hour a computer and monitor uses 400 Watt hours (Wh). Wh is a measure of Energy. To power a lab of 0 computers you will need 0* 400 = 4000 Watts. To run this from solar panels through the day only you would need a 4000 Watt panel. Except - its cloudy, the sun is in the wrong place - many factors reduce the output. To be reasonably safe you would need about a 2000 Watt panel. Then you would need batteries to store power through dull periods AND a voltage converter to change from low voltage DC from the solar panels to the mains voltage for your computers.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a condominium or apartment building?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a condominium or apartment building. However, the feasibility and process may vary depending on factors such as building ownership, structural integrity, and local regulations. It is important to consult with professionals and obtain necessary permissions before proceeding with the installation.
Q: Is it possible for a 2V rated panel to charge a bank of batteries equal to around 36V? I believe that the panels should equal or exceed the voltage of the batteries but, I'm not for certain.
You're right. The solar panels must produce a voltage equal to or slightly greater than that of the batteries. So you need to either switch to a 2 volt battery or add two more solar panels of the same current rating.
Q: I would like a list of the solar companies expanding or doing hiring or a good list in general. I know some are expanding. Best answer gets all the points
damn I wish i could help you but I think the United States is too cool for solar I would move to Italy or Germany or China or India if you want a good solar job those guys know how to see into the future of energy
Q: I have a question about solar panels. What are the benefits of this system if I installed in my home. for example i know it produces electricity but does it do anything else? How many panel would you guys think I would need for 2000 sq ft. do you know if it produces hot water? Thanks for your help
Solar panels have been expensive, and not $00,000 about 30 to 50. There are new technologies that are just coming on line which supposedly reduce that for the same output by /2 to 2/3's which will, when these become widely available finally become practical, with tax breaks and incentives for the majority of people, either in their homes or businesses. I believe there are some panels that position the panels in such a way that you can buy a hot water collector under the photovoltaics and will produce hot water as well.
Q: I own a townhome in the Phoenix area (my power company's SRP, if that makes a difference). Phoenix is a great place for solar. I could probably save money, in the long term, if I got some solar panels. But I am currently extremely broke, so I can't buy solar panels unless I will more or less immediately be paying no more than I am now per month, with little or nothing down. And most of the solar leasing places won't work with me, because (as is common for townhomes) I don't technically own my roof. I have permission to put things on it, but the property management people (or whoever actually owns my roof) won't sign the lease or whatever.Anyone know of either a way to buy solar panels without paying significantly more per month than I already do for electricity, or a solar leasing company that can work with the restrictions I have?
Nope; I see no escape. Best advice I can give is this: sell out and move to a single home residence that has no HOA. If you want solar, I believe the main roofline should run east-west, so that the south exposure of the roof can be easily and economically populated with panels. APS is better than SRP wrt solar ....maybe. Im not sure, everythiong around here is APS so there's no balance. Ive occasionally heard rumors from SRP folks who are unhappy.... check into it before you buy.
Q: I mean when light hits the solar panel where does the energy go and what does it become? Be specific.
Energy is conserved, meaning that no energy is lost. It has to go somewhere. So for solar panels, the main energy is electricity. The current that is produced by all of those silicon wafers is usually stored in DC batteries. Some of the energy from the sun is transferred into heat. Perhaps a Mechanical Engineer can better answer if any very minute expansion occurs from the sun. I would guess negligible.
Q: I want to be more self sufficient and get solar panels for electricity in a small house any tips will help. i need to know how many watts is enough and ect.
It's depends on how many electrical appliances at home. For small house average need 800-200 watts electricity. The average solar panel kits produce 75-50 watts depending on the size of the panel. You needs minimum 5 solar panels.
