Q: My home uses an average of 2400 kW per month (28,800 per year.) How much can I expect it to cost to install solar panels of this amount? (It is not my intention to go off of the electric company's grid. I would like to generate what I can / possibly sell back extra power)What quot;hiddencosts are there? What is the average life of them? What is the quot;best(cost effective and green) solution / approach?(BTW.... I am in southern LA if that makes a difference)Best answer will go to clear answer WITH links/resources to back it up!)THANKS A MILLION!!! I hope you have a safe and happy holiday season!!!
Power inverter to change 2VDC panel power to 220VAC House power. (~$600) You are also going to need various switches and a meter to keep track of how much you are sending back to your power company. Final answer... Expect to pay ~$7,000.00 with installation by a qualified electritan.
Q: Pls is it ok to connect a 0watt and 20watt solar panel together into a charge controller port, can i just tie the wires together and run into the controller?? Will damage anything...Thanks guys
Tobi, generally yes, solar panels are like beer, all the europeans get along fine, you can put two Belgiums in the same room as one German and three Englishman. As long as the panels have roughly the same open circuit voltage, usually around 8 volts, then go for it. If you're not sure about this, or the panels voltage disagrees dramatically, then they can still work through the same charge controller, the only other thing you need is a bypass diode in the junction box on the back of each panel. Most modern panels come with these already installed. They are simply electrical check valves, allowing current flow in one direction but not the other. The reason these matter is when the sun is first coming up, the higher voltage panel can force its power backwards through the lower voltage panel, at least until they both reach a voltage higher than the charge controller is set at. This is not a desirable thing to have happen, the 20 watt panel, if its voltage is higher, can damage the 0 watt panel without these diodes if the 20 watt has a much higher open circuit voltage, or Vmax. Look on the back of the panel for these ratings. The only other concern is maximum current. A charge controller has a maximum current it can handle, they are generally model numbered this way, a Xantrex C-60 for example has a 60 amp rating. Add up the Imax numbers on the back of all your panels, this is the maximum amperage the panel should put out. As long as it is not above 80% of your charger controllers maximum amperage, your good. Take care, Rudydoo
Q: how efficient are flexible solar panels?
One I got about 3 years ago is about 50% as efficient as a glass panel I got about 0 years ago. Not exactly a scientific study, I know.
Q: How long do solar panels last?
Solar panels typically have a lifespan of around 25 to 30 years, although some can last even longer with proper maintenance.
Q: I'm doing a project for school where I will buy a solar panel and utilize/improve the power output of the panel. I want the panel to have an improved amount of energy output compared to the original. My budget for the solar panel itself is ~$00. Anything else that will be needed is covered. Also, I will be comparing the power by lighting a light bulb and checking to see the output energy of the panel.Where or how should I approach this project? What are the parts of the solar panel that I will need to buy? What factors could I change/improve to improve the overall energy output? What are the things (other than the panel) that I will need to buy?How can I attach a light bulb to the solar panel?

Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of wind-blown debris?
Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of wind-blown debris. However, it is important to choose durable and robust solar panels designed to withstand such conditions. Regular cleaning and maintenance might be required to ensure optimal performance and longevity in these environments.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a pole or ground mount?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on both poles and ground mounts. Pole-mounted solar panels are typically used in situations where there is limited space or when the panels need to be elevated for better sunlight exposure. Ground-mounted solar panels are commonly used in larger installations or when there is ample available land. Both options offer flexibility in placement and can effectively harness solar energy.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a community center or recreational facility?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a community center or recreational facility. Solar panels can provide renewable energy for the building, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering energy costs. Additionally, it can serve as an educational opportunity for the community to learn about sustainable energy practices.
Q: Can solar panels work during cloudy or rainy days?
Yes, solar panels can still generate electricity during cloudy or rainy days, although their efficiency may be reduced. While direct sunlight is optimal for maximum power output, solar panels can still capture diffuse sunlight and convert it into usable energy.
Q: Its cloudy out and i have a solar panel that has 3, .5 volt cells But how do i charge it without sun any other ways?
Haven't you watched the Truman Show? Just cue the sun...
