Q: Can solar panels be used for powering construction sites?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power construction sites. They can provide a reliable and sustainable source of energy to run various equipment and tools used in construction, including lighting, power tools, and machinery. Solar panels can help reduce reliance on traditional fossil fuels, lower energy costs, and minimize the environmental impact of construction activities.
Q: Would like to know if the DIY Solar panel systems can be as efficient as a commercial grade panel.
I would like to go with commercial grade solar panels.
Q: im making an energy efficiant house for science class and i need to price the house. im putting solar pannels on the roof and would u please tell me how much they are per like 2 sq. feet of a pannel?
Completely self-efficient and autonomous??? Forget it. Too expensive. It's only worth if you use like 8 lights (2-20w) about 4 hours a day, a fridge, a tv about 4 hours/day and basically nothing else or a few low consume stuff. Forget about microwaves, dryers, or other stuff. Too much watts. And that would cost you no less than 5000-6000$. You need panels (about 4 or 6 20w would suit maybe), 2 batteries (about 600Ah at least), inverter(500w/24v) and a regulator, lets say a 30A one. Just stick to normal energy supply. A single 20w panel may cost about 750$ at least.
Q: Do solar panels require direct sunlight to generate electricity?
Yes, solar panels do require direct sunlight to generate electricity. While they can still generate some electricity on cloudy days or in indirect sunlight, their efficiency is significantly reduced without direct sunlight.
Q: We've been considering solar panels for a while now, and we'd like to know a little more about them. Please answer to the best of your knowledge. Thanks.
It is definitely worth doing your homework to evaluate how much you electricity you want to obtain, what you location will allow, and the availability of state and federal tax credits. I suggest reading about it in a book or e-book. Check out the referenced source on solar calculator for cost and size detailed information, it's fun and informative.
Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of lightning activity?
Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of lightning activity. However, it is important to install proper lightning protection systems and grounding measures to minimize the risk of damage or electrical surges caused by lightning strikes.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a flat roof?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a flat roof. In fact, flat roofs are often considered ideal for solar panel installations due to their easy accessibility and potential for optimal sun exposure. Additionally, there are various mounting systems available that can be used to securely attach solar panels to flat roofs.
Q: Can solar panels be used for irrigation systems?
Yes, solar panels can be used for irrigation systems. Solar panels can generate electricity which can power the pumps and other components of an irrigation system, reducing the reliance on traditional power sources and making it a more sustainable and cost-effective solution.
Q: Do solar panels require a backup battery system?
No, solar panels do not necessarily require a backup battery system. The decision to install a backup battery system depends on individual needs and preferences. While a backup battery system can store excess energy generated by solar panels for later use, it is not mandatory for the functioning of solar panels.
Q: if you know the area of the panel can u calculate for the wattage or voltage of the panel..
You need to know how many solar cells are in the panel and what is the rated current each cell will produce. This information should be listed on the panel. Each cell will produce from 0.5 to 0.55 volts DC per cell and each cell will produce a current that is dependent on the size of the cell and the type of material the cell is made from. If the cells are connected in series then the voltage of each cell will add together, that is if you have 30 cells connected in series they should generate about 5 to 6.5 volts DC. If each cell generates .2 amps, then you multiply the voltage of 5 volts DC times .2 amps DC equals 8 watts of power. The current of each cell does not add together when you connect the cells in series only the voltage of each cell. If you connect the 30 cells in parallel then the current of each cell adds together but the voltage of each cell does not. That is 0.5 Volts DC times 36 amps equals 8 watts. The power (watts) produced will be the same. See our blog on the products page to see how to connect solar cells in series and in parallel. We also have a PDF file of solar cells and their rated output current sorted by watts per area and their manufacturer.
