- There are a number of types of resin, epoxy is just one group of them. They usually come in a two part mix, the resin and hardener. When the parts come together a reaction takes place which is irreversible, the mixture drys hard; this forms a thermo-setting plastic which is of little use alone though there are some epoxy adhesives and paints.
