Q: if i want water to reacha 3inch how much water one more question if we leave it there with dry dirt not tht dry but will it survive? and how much time until it comes out
read up on turtles or call a pet store!!
Q: I am breeding my geckos, and getting the beginning supplies. I can't use vermiculite or perlite because it is not available. I looked at all pet stores and garden stores, none available. Is there anything I can use besides pelite or vermiculite? Thanks
How To Use Vermiculite
Q: I have eggs that are in a container with vermiculite thats in the incubator. There are 6 holes the size of a pencil on the top lid. The recently just started turning grey, some worse then others. Some of them were red because of the sand that she laid them in not in the nest i made her. So the red ones i cant see if they are grey yet. the temperature is at a steady 80 degrees. What does this mean? And what can i do about it?
did you move them after they were laid? did you rotate them at all? if so the egg is no good. if you move them you have to mark the to pof the egg and keep it the same way it was laid
Q: I brought home a flf in a 5 pot about a month ago. It‘s in what I hope to be it‘s permanent spot and seems to be fine. I want to pot it up to a 6 pot. What type of packaged soil should I use?Any additional tips are very welcome.
In Bastrop Texas; Last year 2013 in February I planted eight fig tree cuttings now 20 tall (watered them moist but never soggy. To winterize during freezes - I water them once a week when it's 60 degrees - one day previous to a cold freeze. The moist soil protects the plants from freezing cold weather. Today is March 2014 - they are still having green small bulbs at the end of the bare branches. I have not covered them with anything and they have survived several bitter freezes.
Q: hello.i am thinking about getting a pet tarantula.i have been wanting one for the past year.and i think it is about time get one.So I have never owned a pet tarantula before just rats, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, lizards. What is a good breed for a beginner.and what are the basic care guides.and i am not looking for a pet to cuddle and handle all the time.so i know that most you shouldnt handle and if so a very little.so please and thankyou.:D
Pet tarantulas are cool spiders, but beware of the poison.
Q: My leopard gecko was in her lay box for about 6 hours straight, but for some reason she decided to go and lay her eggs in the water dish. They were only in there for about 4 minutes but the water is at the cold side of the tank. I had my incubator and egg container with vermiculite already set up so I immediately put them in there. This happened one week ago. I just checked on the eggs in the incubator and they seem like they are not yellowing or caving in. I can see veins and a big red spot in the middle so they are both fertile, so I hope they are ok. This is my first experience with leopard gecko eggs. The eggs are not very firm like a chicken egg, they are very slightly quot;squishyquot;. Are they supposed to be like this?
Im guessing you mean perlite? Perlite is fine for incubation and some people even prefer it. Iv never used it myself for incubation but im guessing you would have to make sure it stays humid. Perlite doesn't hold water like vermiculite. In fact, when they use it in potting soils, it's used as a sort of gravel to put air and space into the mix. Vermiculite is for holding and storing water. Just make sure, whatever you use, that it does not have chemicals in it.
Q: i have tried a lot, but my eggs keep dying,HELP!!how can i tell if they are alive or dead? what are other problems with incubating eggs? how do i solve those problems? how should an egg feel or look like? how moist or dry should the eggs be? I NEED ALL THE HELP AND INFO I CAN GET!!
revlon,,, its brown and pink
Q: I have had this egg for about a month now in a plastic incubator that I made from a plastic bowl and vermiculite. The egg has filled out and started to change colors but only half the egg has changed colors. Is this egg still good or what? I hope I am not hoping and Waiting for nothing.
put it up to a light and see if there is anything inside.
Q: I have a pot of radish seeds to start in zone 10 and i‘ve read that peat moss was wonderful so I thought why not use all of it in the pot and get awesome radishes?. I thought it was the best idea, so I planted my seeds (and a baby tree) entirely in peat moss and added plant food (sea kelp). Was that a great idea?
The trouble with peat is that it runs water and gets hard as a rock when it drys. It is hard to keep a constant level of moisture in peat. Peat moss it also acidic. Using peat to loosen soil in a garden also adds organic matter to the soil. It doesn't clump because soil is in between the particles.
Q: Instead of sand, would vermiculite be okay for the bottom of my chimenea?
They do not have to be moist but do need to be humid i placed mine in a damp vermiculite ( the vermiculite should clump together an when squeezed), but water shouldn't drip out. You used use water to control the temparature also helps keep a steady humidity. The main benefit of this incubation method is it is cheap to set up - the whole thing cost around ?20, which, seeing as at that point I didn't know whether there would be any viable eggs to incubate, was a very good result!
