Aluminium foil acts as a total barrier to light and oxygen (which cause fats to oxidise or become rancid), odours and flavours, moistness, and germs, it is used broadly in food and pharmaceutical packaging. The purpose of aluminium is to make long-life packs (aseptic processing|aseptic packaging) for drinks and dairy goods, which allows storing without refrigeration. Aluminium foil containers and trays are used to bake pies and to pack takeaway meals, ready snacks and long life pet foods.

Aluminium foil is widely sold into the consumer market, often in rolls of 500 mm (20 in) width and several metres in length. It is used for wrapping food in order to preserve it, for example, when storing leftover food in a refrigerator (where it serves the additional purpose of preventing odour exchange), when taking sandwiches on a journey, or when selling some kinds of take-away or fast food. Tex-Mex restaurants in the United States, for example, typically provide take-away burritos wrapped in aluminium foil.

Aluminium foils thicker than 25 μm (1 mil) are impermeable to oxygen and water. Foils thinner than this become slightly permeable due to minute pinholes caused by the production process.

Aluminium foil has a shiny side and a matte side. The shiny side is produced when the aluminium is rolled during the final pass. It is difficult to produce rollers with a gap fine enough to cope with the foil gauge, therefore, for the final pass, two sheets are rolled at the same time, doubling the thickness of the gauge at entry to the rollers. When the sheets are later separated, the inside surface is dull, and the outside surface is shiny. This difference in the finish has led to the perception that favouring a side has an effect when cooking. While many believe that the different properties keep heat out when wrapped with the shiny finish facing out, and keep heat in with the shiny finish facing inwards, the actual difference is imperceptible without instrumentation. The reflectivity of bright aluminium foil is 88% while dull embossed foil is about 80%.

We provide a full range of precision aluminum strip for almost any application. We produce aluminum strip in a wide variety of alloys, including clad composites. Our aluminum strip can be produced in standard dimensions or custom made to your special requirements. We produce both imperial and metric units. We manufacture in compliance with the main international specifications, and tighter tolerances or custom tempers are available upon request. We offer various surface conditions, custom finishes (painting, anodizing, embossing), special processing, and multiple packaging options to meet our customer's unique requirements. The following is a summary of our capabilities.

Manufactured in compliance with the main international specifications and standards, including:  Aluminum Association, ASTM, EN, and DIN.
We can also manufacture in compliance with other international standards including:ASME, SAE, AMS, AWS, FED, MIL, QQ, ISO, BS, AFNOR, JIS and GOST.

Manufactured in compliance with the main international specifications and standards.
Tighter tolerances are available upon request.

Aluminium alloys with a wide range of properties are used in engineering structures. Alloy systems are classified by a number system (ANSI) or by names indicating their main alloying constituents (DIN and ISO).

The strength and durability of aluminium alloys vary widely, not only as a result of the components of the specific alloy, but also as a result of heat treatments and manufacturing processes. A lack of knowledge of these aspects has from time to time led to improperly designed structures and gained aluminium a bad reputation.

One important structural limitation of aluminium alloys is their fatigue strength. Unlike steels, aluminium alloys have no well-defined fatigue limit, meaning that fatigue failure eventually occurs, under even very small cyclic loadings. This implies that engineers must assess these loads and design for a fixed life rather than an infinite life.

Q:What is the specific weight of aluminum foil?
The specific weight of aluminum foil is 2.7. Aluminum foil weight = thickness *2.7kg* area. For example, 0.05mm aluminum foil with 30 square meters, so the weight is =0.05*2.7*30=4.05kg.
Q:WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU SWALLOW,BY ACCIDENT,THE SMALL TAB ON THE TOP OF A PEPSIE CANDO YOU WAIT IT OUT AND LET THINGS PASS NATURALLY.IS IT DANGEROUSIAM AN ADULT.? HELP- NO DOCTOR YET SASHA
More than likely it will passMost of the tab is rounded off so the chances of passing with no problem is probably about 99%The best thing is to examine your stools to see if it passedIf not then you may need medical attentionThe aluminum tab will not cause and ill affectsIf it had a small sharp edge it could cause a problemI would wait it out but be watchful.
Q:Identify the element which can form ions with the same electron arrangement as argon? Is it :1Oxygen2Calcium3Aluminium4Sodium5Magnesium6FluorineThanks if you help! :D
3 aluminium the others would go more towards the electron config of neon
Q:I'm 14 and I want to make a hunger games shirt but the only fabric paint I can find at my store is like $10 for a really tiny bottleWhat if I used fabric dye? And took a little brush or sponge and did the design with that? But feel like that would be way harder, especially since I don't have a stencilI have a thing that I printed out that I'm gonna like draw on the shirt and paint in the lines if that makes senseOr my friend said to color the whole thing with sharpie? It seems like that would take a really long timeAnd I would probably need multiple markersWhat should I do? Fabric markers at my store are also like $20 and I don't wanna pay that if I'm only gonna use them onceI was thinking the fabric dye because it's kind of all my store has and it's only like $3What should I do?? Thanks!
1) get some puffy paint ( gooey paint stuff that comes in little bottles; only 1$ at most craft stores) it has a little nozzle on the top of the bottle so if you wont need a stencil 2) use acrylic paint, if youre in an art class at school just ask to take some home to finish an art projector if theyre a nice art teacher you can just tell them what its for3) if you only plan on wearing this shirt one, and arent worried about your design washing off in the laundry, you can use almost anything! (like food dye, sharpies, regular markers- the only problem with markers is they bleed alot so if you want sharp edges dont use them!) and if you need a stencil you can always just cut one out of aluminum foil, cardboard, or zip loc bag!

Q:Seriously, I never thought I would have this issueit just started like two days agoMy aussie has started sleeping on my bed when I go to schoolShe NEVER gets on my bed when I am homeEverDoesn't even think about it.1I can't just close my doorshe stays in my room while I am out, because I don't trust my roommates with my dog.2Yes she is crate trained, and her crate is currently at my parents houseI cannot afford to buy ANOTHER crate to have herePlus I don't have room for it in my bedroom.3She HAS a bed that she sleeps inusually. And I care that she is on by bed, because she DROOLS on my pillowI have changed the pillowcase three times in as many daysDisgusting. She seems to enjoy digging in my blanketsmaybe I will get her a cheap blanket and put in on her bed for her to dig inThink that will help?
alluminum has more pop and a bigger barrel
Q:I have a specific look that i want to achieve and so far haven't been able to do itI'm not looking to go buy something i don't already have or can get from someone i knowI've been told to use a 10 can, just to layer several layers of cake on top of one another, and to cut cake into 1 inch pieces and assemble but i want one solid cake with no layering or assemblingJust bake, decorate and done.another question.can a metal mixing bowl be used to bake in?
I answered this question at another placeYes, you can bake a cake in a stainless steel mixing bowlI have done it several timesYou do have to have a metal core to place in the center of it though as the cake would be too deep to bakeAs the batter rises it has to have something to cling to or it will fall back downIf you have a really long metal rod of some kind and could make a base for it from aluminum foil or something.you might be able to stand that in the center of the bowl and pour the batter around itYou would be much better off just stacking layers of cake.to get the shape you wantOnce the cake is iced you won't be able to tell the difference If you are wanting this cake to look like a bucket of sand dumped out.and think you don't want to ice it.just ice it with a tan icing and cover it with graham cracker crumbs.you will love the way it looks.
Q:Alright, so this is really two questions in one.1, I have a bunch of coins from all over the worldUnfortunately some of them have that nasty black on them that tends to build up on coinsI was wondering if rubbing alcohol is safe to use on coins? I have some really old coins and coins from countries like Rhodesia and CCCP that don't exist anymore, so I cant risk damaging them.2I also have probably about 20 wheatheads, but everyone of them is dull and brown due to ageHow would I make these shine again, like a 2012 penny would? Thanks for the help!
Yes, they do but there are often multiple families living in the houseWhen I lived in Italy, I had the ground floor of a house and the family that owned the house lived on the top floor.
