- Well I can't see your figure. You need to have the radius of the hemisphere top that you speak of in order to get a real number answer. The question does not give the final capacity, but I get the idea. Anyway the volume of the cylinder is (pi) r*2 (h of cyl). The volume of the hemisphere is 1/2 a sphere or (2/3)pi(r*3). Add the two volumes together to get a total volume. So the height of the silo = (vol of the cyl)/(pi X r*2). Since you don't have all the numbers I can only solve the equations which will give you the numbers once you find the total capacity and radius of the hemisphere. Good luck

- Q: Hello, I am from PA and I have a huge barn and cement silo I would like to remove off my property. Does anyone know where I could research to find potential buyers for these items. I am more concerned about the cement silo. I have a few people interested in the barn but I am not sure what to do with the cement silo. I don't know if this was something people would be interested in or if it is an item I should just dispose of.

- I assume you mean a radar mounted above the powder surface, say at the top of the silo, with line of sight to the top of the powder. Having used radar in the military for years, I would say the surface of a powder would be somewhat like desert sand, and could provide a reasonably accurate measure, assuming there was no pronounced concavity or other surface distortion as a result of moving powder in and out. Probably much better would be a simple laser distance measuring device. Sounds like a good idea, if you have remote displays, etc.
