Q:Ok Im trying to power my room using solar panels and I've figure out that I need about 700 watts to do so, but I really only use my electronics at night. I was wondering if I could buy lets say a 200 watt solar panel and let it charge a battery all day would that work? I live in southern california so I dont have to worry to much about cloudy days. also any suggestions on where to buy a panel, inverter, charge regulator, and battery?
What you really need to calculate is your energy requirements, you are only stating your power requirements. Power (W) = how many watts of power are you using? Time (h) = how long are you going to use the power for? Energy requirement(Wh) = W * h take the answer to that equation and plug it into the exact same equation except substitute how much sunlight you get for h and then solve for W to find what you need in the way of a solar panel. Wattage of solar panel (W) = Energy requirement (Wh)/hour of sunlight per day (h) Now you know what wattage of solar panel you need. For the battery you use a different equation: Energy in the Battery(Wh) = Battery Voltage (V) * Current Capacity (Ah) Solving for Current Capacity: Ah = Wh / V This will tell you how big a battery you need, but you also need to be concerned about how much current it can source. For this you need to know what your peak power requirement is. Wmax = peak power requirement Max discharge current (Amax) = Wmax / Vmax Also you will need an inverter rated to Wmax as well.
Q:Can it be used on a cellphone so u never have to worry about low battery?
Solar panels (arrays of photvoltaic cells) use renewable energy from the sun, and are a clean and environmentally sound means of collecting solar energy. Solar panels are a great way to generate electricity on a small scale. Solar panels are commonly named solar cells or photovoltaic cells. Photovoltaic means literally light electricity.” Solar cells or PV cells rely on the photovoltaic effect to absorb the energy of the sun and cause current to flow between two oppositely charged layers. Solar panel installation is a cost effective part of the green movement for saving energy. There are different types of solar panels available, including Monocrystalline Panels, Polycrystalline Panel, Cast Polycrystalline Panels, String Ribbon Silicone Panels and Thin Film Panels. Find more information about solar panels at this Web site:
Q:Can solar panels be used to power a construction site?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power a construction site. By harnessing the sun's energy, solar panels can generate electricity that can be used to power various tools and equipment on the site, reducing the reliance on traditional power sources and lowering carbon emissions. Additionally, solar panels can be easily installed on temporary structures or mounted on portable frames, making them a viable and sustainable option for powering construction sites.
Q:Okay so.. if light deflect the light of the sun and black absorbs it, then aren't solar panels just absorbing more light, sun and heat into our atmosphere? Wouldn't this lead to an increase in global warming? Shouldn't solar panals be white? No rude answers please.
If the panels are deployed at outer surface of atmosphere then white will reflect the sun light to outer space. If the panels are deployed at earth surface, inside the atmosphere, most of the reflected light will be bounced back to earth by the atmosphere. For the solar panels we are talking about, they need to be dark color to absorb light and turn into electricity.
Q:Are there any limitations to the lifespan of solar panels?
Yes, there are limitations to the lifespan of solar panels. While solar panels are designed to be durable and long-lasting, they do have a finite lifespan. The average lifespan of solar panels is typically around 25-30 years. However, environmental factors, such as extreme weather conditions, can affect their performance and longevity. Over time, solar panels may experience degradation, reducing their efficiency and power output. Additionally, technological advancements may render older solar panel models outdated or less efficient. Despite these limitations, proper maintenance and regular cleaning can help extend the lifespan of solar panels.
Q:Can solar panels be leased or financed?
Yes, solar panels can be leased or financed. Many companies offer leasing or financing options for solar panel installation, allowing homeowners and businesses to enjoy the benefits of solar power without the upfront cost. Leasing or financing arrangements typically involve monthly payments over a set period of time, making solar energy more accessible and affordable for a wider range of people.
Q:I'm a carpenter, and can do electric work. I want to make some money installing Solar Panels. what's the best source?
DRI Roofing. They are coming out with some of the best technology for solar panels. I know they have a different branch for the solar panel division, but i don't remember it right now.
Q:Hi there. I live in Colorado, and we obviously get a ton of snow there. I im looking into a solar power system for my home, and I am wondering if the snow will accumulate on the panels, or if, because of the energy passing through, it will melt on contact? By the way we get about 20' of snow each year, and it comes on often. I will also be putting them on my roof. Thanks for your help.
Good news and not so good news. You need to be able to access the panels to clean the snow off. There is not any heat generated other than the heat of the sun hitting the black colour - which would amount to some melting ability during a sunny day - but it isn't sunny when it snows! Apparently, solar panels work better in the cold and where snow can reflect light so to increase the amount of light - photons - hitting the panel.
Q:Solar panels do good more then bad?
Sure your proper, sunlight panels (photovoltics) could be used to make electricity for small electronics. Proper now sun cells are on many calculators, and even flashlight. However the trouble is the lenght of time the cells take to charge the gadget, verses the vigour demand. I don;t consider the scale of the panels, and the period of time needed to charge the device are sensible. One think i've been thinking is that all should have a photovoltaic panel to charge a battery. Then, use the battery to cost phone telephones, MP3 palyers. The panel and the battery would be in regards to the 8 x eleven inches, and could sit down in window, or on a dash board to get charged, then utilized in doorways over night to charge contraptions.
Q:A homeowner is considering putting a horizontal solar panel on her roof to heat water for domestic use. An average increase of water temperature each day from 60oF to 20oF is wanted for 50 gallons. How large a panel would be needed on a clear winter day at 40o latitude if the overall efficiency is 50%?
Good points. I'm new to the solar energy world, but solar just makes sense. Who wouldn't want to make it work? The more I learn the more I think its a great alternative to some of the energy we use. This info really helps.
