- Q: The dishwasher behind my bar at work has a leak. The pipe that's leaking is Parker Parflex PP 3/8 plastic tubing that connects into a metal nut and brings clean water in. The pipe has a leak exactly where it meets the nut, so in theory I could cut off the cracked portion and then re-seal it to the nut. Can I cut it with wire cutters? Should it be sanded after I cut it? Do I use a teflon sealant? Thanks for any help!
- That should be a compression fitting. If it's a brass fitting then they are one time use. You can get a new brass fitting, cut the PP tube clean with a knife or a razor blade - be careful not to cut yourself please, then install the nut over the tube, slip the compression ring over the tube and if there's an insert that goes inside the PP, insert that. Then push the hose into the fitting and slide the nut and ring to the threaded portion of the fitting and tighten it. Be careful to tighten it enough to seal but not so tight you cut through the pipe again. It's likely the reason you have the leak in the first place is because someone overtightened it. OR you can simply buy a replacement hose. I'd prefer a wire braid shielded pipe. Stronger and made with a professional fitting on the end, one you don't have to mess with. My opinion, replacing the tube is the better idea. And they're not stupidly expensive either. Good luck with your project. '')
- Q: I have a 16 month old girl who has her first ear infection now. She has it in both ears and still has it even after her medicine was done. We have an appointment with an ear, nose and throat specialist for this Thursday, and I will be asking him the following questions.. But I also wanted to hear from people that went through this with their child. I understand that ear tubes probably won't be necessary because this is her first time with an ear infection. What exactly are ear tubes? How are they put in? What are the pros and cons of having them? I have heard that in the long run, they can cause more damage than good. And how did you soothe your little one while they were having difficulty sleeping at night? Thanks!!
- I have 4 children, 2 of mine had ear infections at least 6 times before age 2yrs and never got tubes in their ears. There are certain things that contribute to ear infections. Does your daughter drink fluids when laying down? If she has to go to bed with a cup you will want to prop her mattress up using pillows or a comforter. Just enough so she isn't laying flat, but not trying to sleep sitting up either. Does she take in a lot of Dairy products? You can try soy milk instead of cows milk. Veggie cheese instead of dairy cheese. Organic yogurt instead of dairy. These can be found more affordable at your local farmers market. Wal-mart and grocery stores tend to be a little more expensive. Also, when you wash her hair you can try putting cotton balls in her ears, just don't push them deep inside so you will be able to get them back out easily. Prevention is where I think you will benefit from your line of questioning for the doctor! More than likely they will give you some drops to put in her ears since the anti-biotic didn't cure the problem. Best of luck. Take care
- Q: Are plastic tubes flexible or rigid?
- Plastic tubes can be both flexible and rigid, depending on their material and design.
- Q: Is there an easy way to remember the color tubes (phlebotomy) and what test they are needed for?
- Yes, okorder /
- Q: Glass surfaces are negatively charged, and when blood is collected in a clean glass test tube, it clots. Explain this observation.
- it doesnt matter if it's glass or plastic. Once exposed to air (oxygen) the blood will clot unless it's been treated with an anticoagulant like EDTA, heparin, or sodium citrate. That's why these test tubes have anti coagulant in them. The tubes themselves can be glass or plastic, it doesn't matter. No anti-coagulant = clot anti-coagulant = no clot.
- Q: How do plastic tubes compare to PET tubes in terms of clarity and recyclability?
- Plastic tubes are generally less clear and less recyclable compared to PET tubes. PET tubes, made from polyethylene terephthalate, offer superior clarity, allowing for better visibility of the product inside. Moreover, PET is a highly recyclable material and can be easily reprocessed into new products. On the other hand, plastic tubes, which can be made from various types of plastics, often have lower clarity and may not be as easily recyclable due to the different types of plastic used in their production.
- Q: Are plastic tubes suitable for use in the mining industry?
- Yes, plastic tubes can be suitable for use in the mining industry. Plastic tubes offer various advantages such as being lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and cost-effective. They can be used for various applications in mining, including conveying fluids, ventilation systems, and monitoring equipment. However, it is important to consider the specific requirements and conditions of the mining operation to ensure that the chosen plastic tubes meet the necessary strength, durability, and safety standards.
- Q: i have this artillery shellbut its not one of those one shot ball artillery shellits like a stick about 6 in longand inside are the shellsi think its a six shot and there's one fusei know i should use something called HDPEwhat is that and is the anything else i can use than HDPE
- Sounds like you're abort ready to kill yourself. It's hard to tell what you're talking about. An artillery shell wouldn't have 6 shots it might have a cluster of 6 smaller bombs. hdpe is a type of plastic dont build anything out of plastic that is just stupid. Do you have a picture of what you're talking about? Are you talking about some type of firework(i hope)? OR some civil war artillery shell? Or something else modern ? One of my hobbies is building firearms and other fun projects I can tell you right now this sounds like bad news. I wouldn't play with anything like this. If it's what i think it is.
- Q: Attempting to change the spark plugs in '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee. How do I get the plastic tubes off the plugs?
- Pull on the big part not the wire. Good luck! Try turng them back and forth that my help. Thier stubern little shits!
- Q: me and my father were trying to fix a leaf blower(the cord you have to pull will come out but won't go in) and ran into a few problems. we had to pull the whole thing apart to get to it, and along with pulling everything off we had to take off the switches that handle choke and run, and the tubes connected to this device were corroded from gas left in the leaf blower. where can i buy this tubing, and some sealant for the tubes? i DO NOT want a website that i can order them from, i want an ACTUAL store in the Dallas fort worth area.
- Any hardware store. Take a piece of the old with you and be sure to get the right size. Also make sure it is for fuel. They have other plastic tubing that is not for fuel. You shouldn't need a sealant if you get the right size tubing. If you have to run the tubing through the fuel tank as an example, cut the end of the tubing with a razor blade or sharp knife at an extreme angle to make a point at the end of the tube like you would sharpen a pencil. It will go through the hole easier and you can square it off later.
