- Q: I'm looking for a solar panel that has something you can plug thigs into, I don't know let's say grow lights. I want something that these lights can plug directly into and I can't find any online. If there is any I would like to know of the cheapest and best quality, I know that's an oxymoron but still. The lights are 600 watts so I need something somewhat strong. Thanks

- Q: Are solar panels a good investment?
- Yes, solar panels are a good investment. They offer long-term financial benefits through reduced electricity bills, potential tax incentives, and increased property value. Additionally, they contribute to a cleaner environment by reducing carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
- Q: I know absolutely nothing about electronics but have a lot of money. I am thinking of buying the Sunforce 3730 30W monocrystalline solar panel (the best I could find that was that size or smaller). What would be a good battery to go with it? I am thinking of buying a 2V Concorde Sun Xtender (again, the best I could find). But how many batteries will I need? I want enough batteries that it would take the solar panel 2 days to completely charge them from empty (bearing in mind the unavoidable inefficiencies like cloudiness/changing sun angles). Also, what other stuff would I need, like I hear something about a quot;charge controllerquot;? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
- How many batteries you will need depends on what you are planning to do with them which you did not mention? Sunforce makes a 30 amp charge controller part no. 60033
- Q: I have seen DIY software which explains everything for novices. Specifically, how to build your own solar panels and tie them into your home electrical system for about $00 in parts.Has anyone tried doing this? Was it easy?
- I used this youtube video to help me build a 2 volt system. I used this video to build a magnet motor attached to a car alternator, I used an old Ford alternator because they are cheap, then put in the voltage reguialtor that I took out of the same car. I then hooked that up to 6 2 volt batteries in series, then I used 4 500 watt inverters, I got it going about 2 weeks ago, I am waiting to how efficient it will make everything, I also do not have my entire house on it. So far I have hooked up my fridge, deep freeze, 52 plasma tv, and washer. I have not hooked anything else into it yet. I have no idea if it has enough power to turn on full load, like I said I am still toying with it, but it seems to be doing fine.
- Q: solar panels or light parts
- They make lights that have solar panels built into them. Due to the solar cell, they can sense when it gets dark and thus switch on the light automatically. Look at Northern Tool or Harbor Freight web sites for ideas.
- Q: Let's say I can buy solar panels for my business for $5,000 and my payback period is 8 years. Would it be correct to assume that my money is best spent elsewhere (such as paying down debt) if I am being charged an interest rate of 3.9%?
- Probably, however, depending on what your business does, solar panels can be a somewhat effective marketing strategy. Also you are helping the environment with your investment in solar panels. On a side note, I didn't think modern solar panels had a payback period of 8 years? From what I've heard it's more like 7 years. Oh well, I don't know much about this topic.
- Q: Do solar panels require regular cleaning?
- Yes, solar panels do require regular cleaning to maintain their efficiency. Dust, dirt, bird droppings, and other debris can accumulate on the surface of the panels, reducing their ability to generate electricity. Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and maximizes energy output.
- Q: Im looking at making a self build iPad solar panel charger, Is it possible to get a small solar panel, a battery to hold charge and then a USB output? nothing fancy, just power in and power out?
- Yes you can. You would need to look up and see the voltage output by a USB port and the current rating. You should be able to find it on the web. I have found it in the past. Check several sites to make sure that you have the correct values. Then wire up the solar panels to get the correct voltage and current capabilities. You may need to learn how a LM7805 works and wire one of them up to the circuit if you can't wire the solar panels to get the correct voltage. Make sure that you protect the solar panels from the weather and have some kind of protection for your iPad so that it does not get rained on and ruined.
- Q: Can solar panels be used for charging laptops or smartphones?
- Yes, solar panels can be used for charging laptops or smartphones. Portable solar panels, such as those designed for outdoor activities or camping, are available in the market. These panels can convert sunlight into electricity and charge your devices through USB ports or power banks. Additionally, some laptops or smartphones also have the capability to directly charge from solar panels using special adapters or cables.
- Q: How much does 000 square feet of solar panels cost? This is for a pool with dimensions 75ft by 25ft? How much will it cost including installation fee and the water heater?
- My Father-in-Law had around 300sqft of solar panels installed for the equivalent of around ?3000 or $5000. These were just the cheap and relatively inefficient black plastic tubes that were installed on his roof. This was in South Africa where the labour rates are quite cheap. The system works okay and heats a 40ft x 20ft outdoor pool to over 30C in the height of summer. Rather than a pool heater, I think it might be good to look at an air source heat pump to help heat the water in Autumn/Winter when you don't get enough sun to heat the pool. These will be expensive (over $5000), but they will use less than 30% of the electricity of a standard electric water heater. Just the solar panels could cost you $5-20K including fitting.
