Q: I need to be able to charge a 2v 7amp battery with a solar panel. I understand that the charge controller will keep the battery from over charging/discharging, but what I don't understand is the amps. The solar panel is rated at 5watts.The solar panel comes with a 2v 3amp charge controller but will I need to buy a 7amp charge controller and replace it with that for my battery pack? Please explain. Thanks in advance.
The battery is probably 2v 7amp-hour, not 7 amp. 7amp-hour is basically just how big the battery is. You can charge that battery with as little current as you want, it'll just take longer. The 7 amp-hour tells you that it'll take a long time to charge. 7 amp-hour means it can discharge 7 amps for hour. If you were charging it at 7 amps, it would take hours to charge, but I don't recommend that. You could charge it at .5 amps for 4 hours or .25 amps for 28 hours. The smaller the current, the longer it will take, but it will get there eventually assuming your voltage is high enough (which it should be with the charge controller).
Q: will at least consider them for their home electricity? I've seen several articles that new technologies are now being used, but it doesn't seem to be promoted to residential apps. I've even seen that the solar technology will be used in paints in the near future.
There are lot of cheap solar panels today, Its all in the internet and most of them are made in China. Expand your knowledge and learn from a renowned solar company about the Cheap Solar Panels. Visit our site and contact us today!
Q: I am working on a project and I have to build a house with solar panels. My teacher asked me how would I get solar energy if it is rainy or cloudy? I looked it up but didn't understand. Please help me!!

Q: About how much would it cost to purchase and install solar panels for the average American house so that the house can be off the power grid and use the same amount of electricity as it normally does?
Homes vary tremendously in their usage. It will be a factor of 0: between a conservative house, and a heavy use one. To get the answer for your own house, check the electric bills. Also, the answer for the size of solar electric system varies with the location of the house. A Minnesota residence may get only 2/3 or /2 of what an ideal California house gets, even though both are sunny. As a data point, our California house has no air conditioning, no electric heat, no pool, and no big screen TV. We use maybe 5 - 8 kWh a day on average (more in winter, less in summer). We have a 3 kW solar array on the roof, and it roughly keeps up with our usage.
Q: Ok so I am planning on buying a solar panel. I am doing it to possibly sell the energy that it stores. It is a 20 watt panel so I am just wondering if every week or month if I sold that energy that it stored would make me a good profit. I am not hoping for thousands of dollars a month..just like 00? The solar panel cost me $,00 so if so, how long do you think it would take to make good profit. Also, how much would I make every week or month?
I will give you the tools to answer your own question. Here is the solar resource map: rredc.nrel /solar/old_data/nsr... Use it to look up the hours of peak equivalent sunlight per day in your area. For example, let's say it's 5 hours / day. Then per year you get 365 x 5 = 825 hours of sun Your panel is 20 watts, or 0.2 kW So the energy produced per year is 825 x .2 = 383 kWh You'll have to use the proper numbers for your own area, of course. Anyway, you can take that 383 kWh and determine how much it would cost at local electric rates. Never know, on some islands, it's $.00 per kWh. Check with your local electric company for rates.
Q: could any tell me what type off panel is the best tube or flat and how much it should be. I live in N Ireland
My solar thermal installation uses a 30-tube NAVITRON panel. This has an effective area of 2m2 and produces enough hot water in summer for 3 showers and plenty of washing up! I estimate that, in it's first year, it has saved me about ?60 in gas. The panels and prices are shown in the attached link. Mine was fitted by a professional installer for ?2500, including a huge, new cylinder (dual coil) to store the extra hot water. Flat panels are much less efficient than vacuum tube collectors. While flat panels are frequently cheaper, these Navitron panels are such good value that I think buying inferior, flat panels would be a false economy.
Q: I'm thinking of getting a solar panel for my house to help cut back on power use (I live in New Mexico). What sort of appliances can I run on a watt solar panel? Is it worth it to get a single watt panel or is it more efficient to get a multi-watt panel?
watt is a very small amount of electricity. The typical household uses several million watt hours per year. watt would be enough to trickle charge a battery to run an LED nightlight. I believe the little self contained walk lights that I have put out have a 0.35 watt Ni-Cad battery. That could be recharged by a watt solar panel.
Q: How do you make solar panels and do you need a lot of them to make electricity?
Homemade okorder
Q: I want to know how many solar panels to use to power my AC and Water heater
you cant use solar panels to power your house, it would take more than you can afford, and space to mount them and all the equip required to hook it up. what they don,t tell you is you need a Battery bank [24 to 48 batteries], deep cycle a inverter ,[one that will convert 2 volts to 0, at the wattage you need ] a transfer switch, rated at 00 amps wiring, a 45 watt panel is around $300
Q: Is this true in a dc system? What if my battery current is negative?
Current rating of a piece of supply equipment is the maximum current that can be supplied. you may have the capacity to supply 8.75 amps total but your load may draw a lot less than that. like if you fill your cup from a bottle. the bottle may hold 5 gallons but you only use one quarter of a pint to fill the cup. I hope that makes some kind of sense.
