- First, you should know that ONLY BATTERIES have mAh ratings. The h means hour. Chargers have only mA or A ratings. No h. Ever. Since 550 mA is only a little more than 25% of 2 A (2000 mA), there should be no problems. Phones have charge controllers in them, so that should work, too.

- The wave power is not a good option for the Great Lakes. Although you could generate some power, I don't believe that it would be a viable option for the cost to energy produced ratio. The waves just don't have the umph as the ocean. Of course, if you had the capital for the wave power, given enough time you could pay back the investment easily. Wind power though would be great solution there. Wind power provides more energy than our current solar-power technology, and you can be charging your battery bank overnight, as well as during the day.
