Q: I'm building an ion accelerator which is based off of an ion generator and a coilgun. The ion generator is complete, but I'm looking for a good power supply for the coilgun portion's electromagnet. What is a good sized capacitor bank for this type of application, aiming for extremely short but powerful bursts. Also, is there a good online store to find cheap high capacitance capacitors?
Ion accelerators usually work off DC, not from a capacitor bank. What energy and current are you looking for in your ion beam? I think that you need to do a LOT more design work on the ion generator. What kind of ion source are you going to use, and what is its current density and brightness? If you want a pulsed high current beam, how are you going to source all those ions? Edit:- How can you possibly hope to get 1.65 amps of ions? Ion sources generally run in the microamp range. Just because the current is available from the supply, that doesn't mean that your ion source will consume it, i am afraid. BTW if you COULD make a pulsed ion source this intense, the military would be very interested - such a source could greatly increase the power of an atomic bomb!

Overdraft protection is credit. You overdraft your account by $200. They charge you $40 fee for covering the check, and you make a deposit to cover the overdraft 2 days later. That makes it one of the most profitable things a bank does - especially when you consider that it's *cheaper* to cover your overdraft. It takes more manpower to bounce a check than to cover it. But a bank would be silly to extend credit to just anyone. If they did that, every check kiter in a 13-state area would open an account there. But yes, every bank has the power to offer overdraft protection, and almost every one does - but they don't offer it to everyone.

Q: I have a camcorder which can be powered up without battery using AC/DC power adapter of 5V 2A. However, when i replace the power supply with powerbank of same supply of 5V 2A using usb converter which can convert the wire to fit into the adapter hole, it cannot be powered up. You did not tell us which camcorder. Most camcorders cannot be powered using the USB port and need to be connected to power using the DC-in port. Since we don't know which camcorder you are trying to use, we cannot be sure this is the problem you are having. But if it is, then the power bank you are using is not using the right connector. You need the connector to work through the DC-in port on the camcorder. If you tell us which camcorder, we'll have a better chance of helping you.

Q: I have a 24V 165W BP Solar Panel. I plan on using eight 12V 35 amp hour sealed golf cart batteries in parallel for my battery bank. I plan on purchasing a charge controller and an inverter for my system, but I am not sure which charge controller and inverter to purchase. Will any 12V charge controller work? Do charge controllers take higher voltages, 24V in this case, and step it down for the battery bank? My primary concern is whether 24V is too much voltage to go into a 12V battery bank. If you guys have any suggestions for affordable efficient charge controllers and inverters, please let me know.This system will be used to power a computer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Most any charge controller will work as long as the input voltage is rated to handle the open circuit voltage of your panel, which may be in the 40V range. The solar panel's voltage will drop to match the load during charging; it just won't be as efficient as it could be unless you get a controller with maximum power point tracking (MPPT). MPPT will get the most power from the panel and convert it to the proper charging voltage for your battery bank.
Q: Does anyone know what happened? I added power steering fluid and that did not work. Is there any solution to this that can be done without going to an auto-body? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did the power steering fluid stay in or did it leak out somewhere? Look for broken hoses or connections. Is there snow or ice stuck in the engine compartment somewhere causing things to not work? You may have mangled something in the steering column. The steering column is in the engine compartment (its usually a big cylinder thing that lines up with with the steering wheel) Do the tires look straight? you might have bent an axel and it just seems like a power steering problem.
