- Q: I think the thinset under some of my ceramic tiles is crumbling. I have a concrete slab floor and it involves about 12 tiles between my kitchen and dining room. The grout and tiles have not cracked yet, but how would I fix the thinset without breaking up the good tiles?
- Tedr is right.. W/O seeing it its hard to tell.. Get down on your hands and knees and rap on it w/ your knuckles.. If it sounds hollow and then solid on another part that isn t making sounds then more than likely it s loose tile and just the gout and pressure is holding it together..Seen it many times.. Trdr has many of causes right too.. But its hard to say just what it is GL
- Q: I‘m going to install a porcelain tile floor. My question is when I install a tile up against a cabinet that people can see. Should I but the tile up against the cabinet or should I leave enough space to grout between the tile and the cabinet. Just wondering what the standard practice is , and what looks the best. Also I have a small crack in the concrete, which the tile company said it was so minor that not to worry about it. Although it caused a crack in my old tile that was originally installed. I would really like to prep the crack prior to installing the new tile. What would you recommend doing to prep the crack. Thanks
- I like to leave a space between the cabinet and tile the same as the groutlines. About the crack. You can grind all the loose stuff off it and fill it with cement or something like that. but I've found that if the crack keeps getting bigger (if the house settles any more) there is nothing you can do except when the tile cracks replace it
- Q: I am looking to either repair my flat tile roof or replace it for a shingle roof.
- there are no roofs in florida.
- Q: → tile background wall is good tiles background wall renderings
- Tiles are not suitable for the back of the wall, the grade is not high, reflective 1, pavement trouble, technical parameters difficult to control: tile pavement commonly used wet and wet two methods, because the tile manufacturing accuracy is not high, Tile specifications are generally too large, pavement is not homogeneous patchwork, high and low gap. Dry shop is easy to cause the tiles off, wet shop easy to increase the gap. 2, slippery: tile surface treatment process so that it used in the process of friction is very small, so very slippery; if the tiles after the oil is more slippery. 3, cold: every pavement of the units and the family are all deeply appreciate the cool tiles in the winter! So suffering from rheumatism, arthritis, but also a lot of people, not to mention the original suffering from rheumatoid arthritis in the cold and long winter how hard brains.
- Q: I have a couple of tiles that have fell off and need to be put back on, what type glue do you apply to make them stick. They fell off due to foundation problems which is now fixed.
- Go to Home Depot or Lowes and ask the tile guys or gals there, they will be able to tell you exactly the right type of mud to use, a certain type of thinset designed to be water resistant and for use on vertical surfaces. You'll also need the right grout to finish the job. Let the 'sperts put the products in your hands, then grab a book or check a few DIY websites for how to clean the base wall and install the new tiles.
- Q: The shiny surface ceramic tile is set unto a cement slab - it has been there 15 years or more with no cracks. Do I need to rough up the surface before I set the tile- if so how? I have tried sanding it (60 grit), wire brushing it - there is no effect on the surface. Also I live in a small town - we do have a Home Depot - do they sell a good bonding agent? If so what? Thank-you for your answer!
- I have tiled porcelain over ceramic with long term results. make certain the surface is clean and free of any foreign matter, also use the best modified thin set available and u can also add a latex additive for added strength to the thin set.
- Q: We currently have vinly tile in our tiny kitchen. We want to upgrade but want something that looks nice and is easy to install. What would you recommend (not wood)? Also, would we have to take up the vinyl floor tiles or install on top of it?
- I once had a laminate flooring installed in my kitchen. It was about 16 square and looked like terra cotta tile. It was shaded where the grout was printed on the laminate. So, it looked like real tile. When they installed it, they didn't remove any of the old flooring. They just lay a sheet of thin foam rubber backing and installed the laminate squares (they had a tongue-and-groove interlocking). It came out great and cost about $6 a square foot installed. But, it's easy enough to do yourself. A friend of mine does tile and couldn't believe it wasn't real tile (he had to actually feel it to prove it to himself).
- Q: are linulium tiles long lasting? how can I replace.
- Are you talking ceramic tiles? Remove the baseboards and use a blow dryer or heat gun and a wide metal putty knife to remove the linoleum. Have a trash can next to you to deposit the linoleum. Once you have that all done email me and I'll tell you what else you need to do. Is the linoleum on concrete or wood subfloor?
- Q: To re-do the kitchen so to change the previous, but the tiles left on the traces of viscose, how to remove it? Is there any good way? First, thank you
- Depends on what is the glue on the wall. Water glue with a towel dipped in warm water can paint clean; silicone with a blade scraping; universal glue (strong glue) with organic solvents (thinner, banana water, alcohol, gasoline, etc.) can be washed clean.
