- Simplest thing to do is to make sure you are plugging it into the 'keyboard' PS/2 socket and NOT the mouse one. I have done this many times and know that it does not work. OTOH, you do have a working USB keyboard anyway Uplug your box and blow forcefully into the PS/2 socket as there may be dust in there. You might try compressed air as well. It does happen that sometimes the keyboard controller shorts out when it gets unplugged after several years of having power running through it. OTOH, you do have a working USB keyboard anyway Test your keyboards on another box to determine if they have failed or not. I have never run into a hardware tester for them.
