- Q: Decoration living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom with what kind of tiles good?
- Now the decoration is generally only two kinds of specifications of the kitchen and bathroom with 600 * 600 on the cut and paste the living room with 800 * 800 As for what brand is based on your economic capacity to determine the price from 30 yuan to 260 yuan per brick
- Q: What does the thinset and grout do to tiles when installing them?
- The thin set ( either a grey is what adheres the tile to the substrate your bonding to.It is also used as a filler when setting a cement board down to the floor. This ensures there is no voids between the sub floor and the cement board to make a solid base for tile. The grout is to fill the space between the tiles to help support the tile and to prevent dirt between the needed space for tiles. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
- Q: Is the usual household and engineering brick Such as ordinary tiles and large tiles are much Synthetic tons of how many blocks around
- 30 * 45 within the wall of the general 22--26 kg a box of 10 --- 12 tablets ranging. There are 30 * 60 inner wall of the general 8 per box or so, also 22 --- 26 kg range Brand is not the same, packaging, weight is not the same, can only tell you about.
- Q: Tomorrow I will be laying porcelain tile in my kitchen and need help in figuring out how to cut a hole in the tile for the floor vent? Any input would be appreciated.
- I've done this: I've used an angle grinder to cut a rectangle in one bathroom tile. Straight cuts are easy using an angle cutter and a diamond wheel designed for cutting tile. I've even cut a round hole for the commode. But the commode had a tile seam under it, so I wasn't cutting a hole in the middle of a tile, I was able to cut and nibble away until I had a semi-circle in each tile. Just make sure you have more tile than you need. If (when) you make a mistake you have more to work with. And don't try to accomplish the entire cut all at once. Take little passes at it until you work your way through. Hope this helps. 'av'a g'day mate. '')
- Q: Find the number of tiling a 2 * n rectangle with 1 * 2 and 2 * 2, given that the edges of the tiles are parallel to those of the rectangle.
- If you are tiling a 2 * n rectangle with 1 * 2 tiles, you would line up 1 tile along the end measuring 2, then, becasue the other dimension of the tile is 1, you would need n tiles For 2 * 2 tiles you would do the same thing except that each tile would cover 2 units of the side that is n units, so you would need n/2 tiles
- Q: We are buying our first home and want to do some updating but are on a budget. We are not experienced in do-it-yourself home projects but would like to try.How simple or how difficult is installing carpet tiles? We know nothing about them really.
- If you are on a budget, I would suggest, instead of tiles, which can be expensive, since they are mainly geared toward commercial uses- finding remnants. Most tiles are glued down, and as the prior person suggested would be easier for the first time when using a solid color. You will need to see what kind of glue the manufacturer suggests, or you might void any warranty issue that could arise in the future.
- Q: 80 cm x 80 cm tiles a piece of weight is probably how many kilograms?
- Ordinary soil polishing plant is relatively thin, a box is about 90 ... 95 pounds, is more than 30 pounds each piece.
- Q: I ripped up all the existing tile, it was small tiles that I had to chisel up. There is quite a bit of thinset that is bonded to the wood floor and its impossible to get it all up. If I try and chisel it all off I end up ripping up the wood and making it worse.I think the wood sub floor is sitting on another older piece of sub floor but i‘m not sure. What are my options here?- put cement board over it (do i need to put waterproof membrane?) and then tile it? If I do this the bathroom floor will be slightly higher then the hallway floor.- Can I use self leveler on the wood subfloor and then tile over it? it would probably be the ideal height.- Do I chance ripping up the subfloor and doing cement board and then tile?Am I missing any other options?
- Use the cement board or 1/4 exterior plywood. I don't know about waterproof membrane, ask when you buy the cement board. You can get moldings to cover up the fact that the floors are uneven, just remember to pick up your feet. Trying to level would be a nightmare, IMHO! Ripping up the subfloor is a lot of work for nothing.
- Q: The hammer took a chip out of one tile, the chip is about the size of a pencil eraser. I‘m just heartbroken as we just had this tile installed 12 days ago! Is there any way to fix this- short of replacing the tile? I‘ve already bought a rug that will cover the hole but I‘d still like to fix it if I can. Just in case we ever would like to go without a rug. Thank you!!!
- Got any tiles left over from the job? You can (carefully!) chip the old tile out in pieces with a hammer and a chisel, (VERY carefully!) chip out the grout between the broken tile and the ones next to it. and chip out the cement under the broken tile until you're down to the backer board. Once that's done, clean out all the chips, dust, etc, and chip out the cement that you missed. Clean again, check for still more cement (it's persistent stuff), until the area is clean. Set the spare tile down in the space to make sure it fits OK. It should set below the level of the other tiles. If not, you missed some cement. Go back to step B. Finally, you're ready. Mix some tile cement, dump a glop in the center of the cleared area, spread it around, and use a tile trowel if you have one to spread it and groove the cement. The grooves let you spread the cement and give it some extra area to fasten to the back of the tile. Put the tile in place, wiggle it around and move it until you like where it's sitting, wipe up any cement that oozed up around the sides, and don't walk on it for 2 days. Finally, mix up some grout, spread it into the seams, wipe it off the tiles around the seams, and don't walk on it for another day. Seal the seams, and carry your hammer carefully from now on.
- Q: Right now the wall is horrible paneling, I am drywalling the house, but I really want one wall tiled with granite tiles. Would it be better to do this on the paneling or drywall? Will it be too heavy and rip the wall down? Is there a safe way to do this?
- Yes, you can tile walls with granite tiles. There is a difference in thickness between floor and wall tiles. All you have to do is make certain that the granite tiles you get are made for the wall and not the floor. If you put floor tiles on the wall, they will be too heavy. If you put wall tiles on the floor, they will be too thin to support weight and will crack and break. As for what wall to put them on, it doesn't really matter, as wall tiles will stay up on either wall. As for my personal suggestion, put them on the horrible panel wall. This way, you get rid of the horrible wall and you won't have the extra cost of taking it off and putting on drywall.
