Q: i was going to buy one but then i talked to like 3 different breeders that say they dont even use uncubators just put them in hatchrite and keep them in room temp?
Panther chameleon eggs seem to tolerate a wide range of temperatures during incubation. These temperatures seem to influence the duration of incubation: from 180-365 days. In the incubator, the eggs should be kept in vermiculite with an average moisture of 0.7 parts water, and 1 part vermiculite. Too much moisture can cause egg bursting and death by suffocation. Incubation of panther chameleon eggs kept at the same moisture ratio stated earlier at a day-to-night fluctuation of 65°-78°F hatch in 7-10 months. If you can match these temperature and humidity conditions in your home, then there is no need for an incubator. To be safe, I would get one until you establish a breeding method that you feel 100% comfortable with, if you plan to continue breeding. If you incubate at about 72-73 degrees, you should see hatching between 8-10 months.
Q: She is gravid but she is not close to laying her next clutch of eggs yet. I have an egg laying box with vermiculite in the vivermiam. Her poop had shiny stuff from the vermiculite and then white stuff on the poop has yellow spots on it. Can she be constipated if she at the vermiculite? But why is she not eating her shed skin? SHE USED TO EAT IT BEFOREI also got a 5-6 year old male who also does not eat his skin but i helpe him shed. Why doesnt he eat it as well?
they probably don't want to, most of ours do but sometimes we just take it of for them if the seem like they don't want to.
Q: ok so yeah i know that you have to mist the vermiculite but do i have to avoid getting the eggs wet or does it not matter?
take them out when she is done and incubate
Q: Please list down the following substrates from the highest cost to the lowest cost:VermiculiteRye GrainsAgar Petri DishesStrawsManureOther grains? Maybe?Thank you!10 points for the best answer!
Hi Before the switch make sure it has nice pink transmission fluid. Then go for it.
Q: bearded dragon VERY URGENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
You are QUICKLY going to fry the eggs with that setup! They need to be kept between 82-84 degrees, and they do not need light. I have been hatching reptile eggs for decades, and have never owned a commercial incubator. Use a plastic container with airholes in it. Set the eggs up on cypress mulch, perlite, or even paper towels, and moisten it slightly. Then warm the container to the desired temperature- a light shining on the container is ok, but don't cook it.
Q: So i have a styrofoam box and a shoe box container is in it. should i take off the shoe box lid or leave it on once i place it in my homemade incubator???? Ive read i should put holes in the shoe box where the eggs are going to be but does it work both ways if i were to take off the lid, will this still work?
Leave the lid on so it holds in humidity. I place my eggs into small containers filled halfway with vermiculite and only a couple of tiny holes in them for air flow.
Q: Is it OK to mix vermiculite and perlite in the vegetables grown in the soil?
Yes, rattan month and pot wood rose can be cut. Generally speaking, according to cuttings, there are two ways to choose: one, hardwood cuttings, also known as dormant branches inserted. Field cultivation of rose leaves in autumn, until the germination of the spring, the use of 1 years of cutting branches. Winter branches are usually pruned, with no pests, woody shoots, and plump shoots for cuttings. Cuttings 10~12 cm long, with 3~4 buds. In the dry, place for shelter Xiangyang high bed for slotting machine, land leveling after mulching, and then cutting, in order to improve the soil temperature, promoting rooting. The cuttings into the soil 1/2~2/3, keep the 1 buds exposed soil surface, inserting length of 8~10 cm, per square meter 100~140 strain. Plug in the Yangtze River Basin, probably in late February roots, March shoot new shoots. It can be transplanted in 5~6 month. Hardwood cuttings such as in October, before winter roots, germination in spring, good seedling quality.
Q: I know I need jars, spores, pressure cooker, a terranium, but what else do I need? Should I use Rye Seed or...?
No, you cannot it is not a safe substrate to use. If you are looking for a more soil in nature type substrate try buying Eco Earth that is a 100% pure cocofiber substrate. Please visit CrabbyWiki for further information regarding substrates.
Q: im growing mushrooms and everything says vermiculite and brown rice flour. could i use just watered brown rice flour and regular brown rice? no dumb *** answers please. thank you
Bill Mears on the needed steps 1. Buy incubator 2. Get vermiculite and make it moist enough to form a ball when squeezed (test by making a ball and throwing it at your neighbor’s cat) 3. Fill base of incubator with moist vermiculite and lightly tamp it down -I use the base of a yogurt tub 4. Put lid on incubator and fiddle around with thermostat until a probe lying on the surface of the vermiculite gives you a reading of 81F-84F (lower is OK, hotter is not). This takes a week and a lot of cussing sometimes! Make sure you have it in a COOL place so it can't overheat on a hot day. 5. Shout - lay NOW at your dragon 6. Place eggs in small thumb depressions in the vermiculite and brush the vermiculite around them (eggs with veins on top). The first time you do this, you will space them out all nice and neat and run out of room when clutch #3 is laid. The next year you'll cram them in to save space. 7. Sit back and wait 70 days or so 8. Oh yes- find a really good source for crickets; you're going to need to buy them by the 1000.
Q: How long is the service life of the special vermiculite for incubation? How often do you change it?
Vermiculite is a natural, non-toxic mineral that expands at high temperatures. It is a relatively rare mineral, belonging to silicates. Its crystalline structure is monoclinic, and it looks like mica from its appearance. Vermiculite is produced by hydration of certain granite. It is commonly produced with asbestos. Because vermiculite has the ability of ion exchange, it has a great effect on the nutrition of the soil.
