- my first car was a stick and i guess i never really gave this much thought..what i would do is slow down to the point that you could still make it over the speed bump and kick it straight into neutral with your foot hovering over the brake in case you have to adjust and your foot off the clutch when you are over it enough that you feel like you can comfortably drive off step in the clutch and put it into 2nd gear.this porblem also may be that you are letting off the clutch to fast or not giving it enough gas in the process..but practice makes perfect and you will be making it over those speed bumps in no time
